Post subject: | PETITION TO HAVE ANDERS ZACKRISSON SING FOR NOCTURNAL RITES |
I, Holy Terror, on this 2nd of August in the year of our lord 2007, respectfully, and humbly request, nay, demand, that Anders Zackrisson resume his post as vocalist for Nocturnal Rites. Upon my satisfaction, this petition will be submitted to the ranks of Nocturnal Rites so that they may resume their trek towards glory, and once again hear Destiny Calling! I submit my name as the first of the petition. WHO"S WITH ME??? 1.) Holy Terror. |

IMO it wouldn't matter. He would still be singing to the same poppish power metal NR are playing right now. I'd welcome some change tho. I enjoyed Grand Illusion but on repeated listens the 8th Sin performed real badly and I had to lower the score. As it turned out the most enjoyable listen was the first one. Keep dreaming. |

See reply in other Rites thread. Jonny is definitely NR's greatest asset by the way, he's like the Swedish Jon Bon Jovi and the main reason why I like them at all. |

Speaking of Zackrisson, does anyone know what happened to that guy? I knew he was the vocalist for a band before NR, but after leaving NR it seems like he just disappeared. As for the actual topic, I don't think it would change anything. I like Lindqvist as much as Zackrisson and I don't blame him for NRs recent decline (I actually enjoy The 8th Sin, even though it's a clear step down from Grand Illusion). I don't think that they would ditch their new sound and crank out another Tales of Mystery and Imagination just because Zackrisson rejoined the band. |

Just sign the damn petition. Zackrisson would provide for a better situation. Better music thats for sure. Maybe with him they'll stop down tuning. |

Linqvist is the superior vocalist regardless of the music not being as good with him in the band. |

I wouldn't mind hearing him again if they returned to the old style of songs associated with Zackrisson. However, in any other case I think Lindqvist is a superior singer. |

First off, this petition was never intended to have any effect on the band's choice of musical style. It was merely a vehicle for me to voice my displeasure with Nocturnal Rite's current choice of musical style. Second, Johnny Lindquist is not the superior vocalist, neither technically nor creatively. He is just some guy who became notable for singing like everybody else. His vocal lines are not altogether inspiring, or memorable because they sound like everything else out there. Whereas Anders had the ability to write extremely catch and memorable vocal lines of a much higher quality. The music had more character then, it hearkened back to a golden age of metal in a way that the new music cant. So in the interest of NR setting themselves apart again, I think Zackrisson would be a better choice. |

I like both singers but it's the actual style of metal they played in the early days I would like to see return. |

I support you entirely. Tales of Mystery and Imaginations is probably the best True Metal album ever released. Hymn after hymn after hymn. Btw, the band is still active? |

JL is far far far far better and they have released great music with him. They are working on a new album now. What the fuck is the problem, if it isn't pure speed metal it's crap? That's basically what it boils down to when people bring that shit up. Good songwriters use multiple tempos and let the notes resonate, not play so fast that they can sneak shitty playing past the listener since your mind doesn't have time to really absorb the tone, pitch, color, ect. of the notes. |

Didn't Zackrisson have a band called Planet Storm or whatever? What happened to that? As for Nocturnal Rites, I think both them and Hammerfall fell into the same trap. Both were cool power metal bands that felt they got lost in the big power metal bubble of the early 2000's and changed their sound to focus more on mid tempo and heavy songs. As did a whole bunch of bands and now it feels like there's a void in the old school power metal sound instead :) |

I definitely think that starting with Afterlife, NR jumped on the modern power metal band wagon. They have enjoyed tremendous success having done that, however, I feel the music was far superior when Anders Zackrisson was singing. His vocal lines, his tone, everything was better and more original with him singing. And I'm not saying Lindquist is a bad singer, in fact I really liked his singing on Afterlife, I just think that Anders and the old songwriting style is preferable. Tales of Mystery and Imagination is a dififulct album for any band to top, I would really enjoy hearing a return to that style with the old lineup. If Crimson Glory and Agent Steel can reunite with long forgotten legendary singers, albeit short reunions, then why can't Nocturnal Rites do the same. It worked tremendously for Riot. Tony Moore came back and Riot released their best album since Thundersteel. Plus, I think Nocturnal Rites' popularity has been waning recently, due mostly to the fact that they have essentially become a pop band. I think they would experience a renaissance of sorts by reverting to their more traditional sounds during the Zackrisson-era. |
