I already know the answer to this question. Very very awesome. They are the American Judas Priest, and while their music on aggregate is not as good as Judas Priest's, Riot has been good for longer than Judas Priest Has. Warrior has to be the greatest heavy metal song ever written. Man, what happened to metal? |

ThunderSteel is one of the best metal albums ever recorded. I really ought to get around to listening to more of their stuff. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that recorded with almost a completely different line-up? |

For some reason I used to think they were some stupid hair metal band (I think I confused them for another band or something), and then one day, I forget even why, I heard Storming the Gates of Hell and I punched myself in the nuts for having thought what I did prior. |

The hair metal band is Quiet Riot, where Randy Rhoads played before joining Ozzy. Actually not that bad a band. |

I believe I have their album Night Breaker, very solid metal. Heard a lot about Thundersteel but never got a change to listen to it. |

Thundersteel was recorded with a different line up than the previous albums. Guy Speranza was the vocalist up to Restless Breed, where Rhett Forrester took over. Then Tony Moore was recruited for Thundersteel. Whoever thought they were a hair metal band may have seen the video for the song Bloodstreets, they look like a hair metal band in that video, but the song is truly awesome. It is nice to see though that even as far back as 1976, there was an American heavy metal band that was truly awesome. Rock City is their best, in my opinion, then Thundersteel. Its too bad they couldnt reproduce the same level of awesome on the Privilege of Power. There's a couple of good tracks on that album, but the damn keyboards and horns on it ruin it. Ah well, they still rule. Don't like the new singer, even though he sings the songs well, he looks like Scot Stapp. |

Yeah but everybody pretty much looked like a hair band back then unless they were playing thrash. Riot is a great band, Narita and Fire Down under are great albums and a must to own for those into the 70's metal vibe. Swords and Tequila might be my fave of theirs. |

DiMeo is out of Riot now anyway. I'm not sure whether or not they've hired Mike Tirelli permanently or not. |

Tony Moore remains my favorite Riot vocalist, the vocals on Thundersteel are amongst the best heavy metal vocals ever recorded. Guy Speranza would have to be second. |

Riot is another fairly big band that nobody seems to talk about much. In my opinion, a very good, consistent band, with a long and rich catalogue. |
