Aww snap!
I haven't heard Damian Wilson myself, but Mac is simply a terrific singer. Their latest album has unexpecedtly grown on me over the past month, much due to me realizing the greatness of Mac.

The is the second singer in the last week from one of my favourites that could be leaving. First Rammstein's singer was said to be leaving but looks like it was just a hoax. Unfortunately this doesn't look the same for Threshold QUOTE from the Threshold Fourm (Thresh.net) written by keyboardist Richard West: "Mac was due to arrive in England on Saturday for band rehearsals, but on Saturday morning he sent us a short email saying he has to get on with his life and he's not coming. It was totally unexpected and we're all shocked by the news. Mac won't answer our phone calls so we can't get any more information from him. With two festivals to perform next weekend our only option was to cancel the shows or find a replacement singer. Fortunately our old singer Damian Wilson was able to step in and help out, he's now very busy learning the new material in time for Friday's show in Slovenia. We don't know what the long-term solution is, our focus right now is on the two festivals, we'll see how they go and take it from there." Such a shame sfter releasing one of the best albums this year. |

I have not heard much from Threshold's latest albums but as far as I remember Damian Wilson has an amazing and very powerful voice. As for Mac's behaviour, I think that was very very immature. You don't expect until the last day and then just send a sms message and avoid answering the phone afterwards. This is what an insecure 15 yo kid would do. And at the same time, kudos to Damian for responding in such a short notice. |

Ive only heard the albums Critical Mass and Dead Reckoning by Threshold, both are amazing and DR is still my number 1 album of the year so far. This is bad news for me. Good voice aside though, what a dick. |

Latest from Nuclear Blast: THRESHOLD’s singer Andrew "Mac" McDermott has decided to leave the band for good. "Mac's still not been in touch directly but he wrote a statement on the band forum confirming that he's left", states keyboarder Richard West. Former singer Damian Wilson, who already stood in at the band’s shows at Metal Camp and Earthshaker festival, will continue helping out THRESHOLD vocal-wise. "Damian's agreed to do the next shows and hopefully we can work out a way for him to do all the remaining tour dates." http://www.melodicrock.com/news2007.html And now vocalist Mac has commented, announcing his departure from the band: "Sorry it took so long to give this statement. But, I`m also sorry it took me so long to realise I had to get on with the rest of my life and eventually make a decent living. Next time you listen to a Threshold album picture my girlfriend having to work overtime to make it possible for me to go on tour, not to mention all the jobs I chose to give up to continue with Threshold. Once again, the timing was bad.... I was up all Friday night (13.07.2007) considering this and decided it was time to support my family 100%. For all the Fans out there take what you have and enjoy it (I know I was devastated when Led Zeppelin came to an end). Thanks for all your support, all the best for Threshold and Threshold Fans for the future, Cheers Mac." It's all over red rover hope they find another I don't mind Damian Wilson but Mac was better. Strange comments though given they have now probably their best chance to make it big. Given they are now with one of the biggest labels and have just released their most accessable and best album this is the last thing they need. |
