Metal isn't huge down here in this part of the world, but we have a handful of bands putting us on the metal map! I thought I would list a few bands for you must check out if you haven't already. Also if there are any Aussies out there you can help add to this ![]() Vanishing Point - This would have to be my favourite Australian band. They are a melodic / progressive band with heaps of originality and creativity. They can be both mind blowingly powerful and mesmerizing at the same time. They have an album due out in the next few months so keep your eyes peeled. http://www.myspace.com/vanishingpointofficial Black Majesty - These are Australia's premier power metal band. I would love to see them live but they always seem to be touring Europe! They also have a new album due in the next few days.. you can check them out here. http://www.myspace.com/blackmajesty Eyefear - Another Power metal band definitely worth checking out. Also the lead singer probably has the longest hair I've ever seen! http://www.myspace.com/eyefear Lord - This is the next incarnation of the band Dungeon who are another heavy / powermetal band. Worth checking out, but not before the other bands listed. http://www.myspace.com/lordaus |

Black Majesty has the singer with probably the longest breath, just listen to Fall of the Reich. By the way, the whole album is amazing. |

Dungeon split up but released their last cd, titled appropriately enough, "The Final Chapter " and it's actually quite impressive. Lord Tim is basically carrying on the Dungeon spirit in the band Lord, as Patto posted in the opening post. Check out their sampler, from their upcoming album, at their Myspace link also posted in the first post!!!! |

Just don't listen to Blood Duster. They are fucking atrocious, and they ruined my Danzig experience for me. Fucking cunts. |

Abyssic Hate (Blood Duster-drummer Shane Rout's band) is pretty good though. |

I like all 4 of the Australian bands initially mentioned in this topic (especially Vanishing Point and Black Majesty), and I also really like Ilium. ![]() Btw, full review for the new Ilium ('Vespertilian') will be published on Metal CD Ratings, February 29th, as part of a large site update. ![]() Clint NP: Nightcloud - debut (I love this!) |

I would probably say Lord - Ascendance is my favourite Aussie metal cd and I also really like Dungeon's final cd had a raw sound and some great performances. Black Majesty are very good but I find they start to sound the same after a while. |

DUNGEON - first two albums are speed metal, they are mediocre. DUNGEON - last two albums are more groove oriented, they are amazing. They are also essentially solo albums by Lord Tim. LORD - First album is a solo album LORD - Second album is a new band Tim created VANISHING POINT's first album sucks ass. Can't comment on anything else, I plan on reviewing them though because someone has to denounce them if they really do suck as much as In Thought. I Plan on reviewing Black Majesty's albums too. |

Bad mouthing Vanishing Point will get you nowhere. VP is one Australia's top 3 metal bands and doing very well overseas. They opened for Maiden in Melbourne on both nights and were very good and will also open with Black Majesty for the Helloween gig on the 29th. Their latest album is very good |

Giving an honest critique of the band (which can be read at the below link) is never a bad thing. I have news for you. Bands like to be criticized, they don't want their asses kissed. They want to know if they can make their music better somehow. Badmouthing is making uninformed comments regarding a band with no validation for it. Popularity and name-dropping is not impressive in metal any more than it is in shitty commercial modern pop music, so don't even try that approach. |

I'm fully aware that bands like/need to be criticized and dont need their asses kissed. Afterall i am a reviewer for Clint's website. The other day i just had my back up cos i'm just defending my country's metal bands. Your opinion matters, but i dont agree. I quite enjoyed VP's first album, although nothing spectacular. I do urge you to listen to their latest album as it is one of their finest work |

If you would have read my review, I didn't say it was a shit fest. That it was just a very mediocre metal release. I plan on listening to the rest of their stuff though because once I review one album by a band I tend to wanna review the rest of them. |

They are two completely different bands. And yeah, only the singer went from Pegazus to Eyefear. |
