Seeing as to how this is one of the more controversial albums in the Iron Maiden discography, I thought I'd poll this board to see their thoughts on it (since I'm planning on picking it up tomorrow).

Come on, are you kidding or what?

This is straight out of their classic period!

No 'ifs', 'ands' or 'buts' about it, mate.

Hit.

Seinfeld needs a tight slap for posting such a poll :P

It's a major hit, man. I'd rate it as Maiden's fastest album. Harris is on 5th gear on most of the songs and Nicko, my oh my! I actually thought he was playing with double pedals on this! The synthesizers were a bit gay but it helped inject some mood/atmosphere into the songs.

Out of all the Hit or Miss threads lately, this one is completely unnecessary. A definite hit, and if anyone votes miss then they are not a metal fan or Iron Maiden fan.

All Maiden's first seventh albums are CLASSIC, part of the metal history, and whoever votes miss deserves being hitted til death with a sweated sock.

Honestly mate, no offence intended. I think it's awesome. That sentence you just wrote is some serious genius.

BTW, why do so many people hate No Prayer For The Dying and Fear Of The Dark? I've never listened to them before, but I know a lot of people don't like them.

Watching Family Guy?:P You remind me of Stewie.

This is a definite hit, but I'm hearing alot of bad things about it everywhere. Faggots.

@Seinfeld:
NPFTD and FOD is probably my least favourites. Partly because of Janick and partly because of Bruce Dickinson's kind of snarly vocals.

Massive hit, but the Scottish guys I camped next to at that festival I've just been had like a two hour debate with me over Loneliness of a Long Distance Runner, they hated it haha.

Let's take a look at why this album would be considered for a HIt or Miss poll:

Guitar Legends: Iron Maiden
Quote:
Guitar Legends: Your next studio album, Somewhere in Time, was a bit of departure. Guitar synthesizers, no songs by Bruce...[note: their trailing off, not mine]

Harris: It was certainly the most expensive. [laughs] We went a bit crazy, recorded the bass and drums down in Nassau, at compass point, then went to Holland, to wisseloord studios, to do the guitars and vocals, then took it back to New York to mix at Electric Lady Studios. It was crazy. We were just trying to get it right without hurrying it for a change and, well... you learn from your mistakes , I suppose.
[/quote]

BTW, I know I might be alone in saying this, but Dance Of Death is my favorite Iron Maiden album. If partially because it was released during a rather emotional time in my life.
