I just hope he returns to the epic symphonic/power metal sound from the previous Avantasia albums because a bombastic metal opera under the Avantasia banner would seem weird with Edguy's current hard rock sound. I personally have nothing against it for Edguy, but I hope it's minimal with Avantasia.

From TobiasSammet.Net:

AVANTASIA IS BACK!

We have just received the following statement from Tobias Sammet:

"I've heard rumors going around and - yes - they're true. Quite some time ago I've started working on another Avantasia adventure! Again it's going to be a conceptual album with different musicians and singers. More about it from now on at this site www.avantasia.net. You ask why I am doing it? Because I can! Because I am dying to go for it! And because the time has come that I feel ready and strong enough to start something big, bombastic and monumental again! Believe me: you won't find any other man on the face of the earth who has got more work and stress right now - and who's yet as happy as I am. It's so exciting to see another dream of mine take shape. I wish you a successful year 2007 and - most important - I wish you happiness, health and a lot of good sex!"

Hopefully he doesnt crap on the name of Avantasia though, the first 2 albums are among the best in the genre.

He held off for quite a while before doing this, so I think he was waiting for the right moment/stroy/available musicians to do it right. Plus, he loves his Avantasia creation so much, I don't think he'd ever risk damaging it.

I just happened to go to Edguy's site, which had a link to the news on Tobi's site. It'll probably appear on Blabbermouth tomorrow

Thanks though :D I knew I had to post immediately when I read it because that's a high news priority in the power metal world!

MetalReviews got it ahead of Blabbermouth!!! :dio:

Awesome news. Been listening to the first two quite a bit recently again, and part three would be excellent.

Yay!

I hope there will be some new singers on this new project, and maybe some more variety between them. *Thinks of Ayreon*

Sounds like they are going in a more rock-kind of direction, especially since Jorn Lande is gonna sing on it aswell. I don't have too big hopes for this one.

Hmmm... I still think this is going to rule. Bob Catley is going to be on it! Awesome!

Evidentially, Alice Cooper will be guest singing on it. And of course... Kiske. :D
