So some Danish guitarist/songwriter moves to Italy, rounds up some musicians and starts a band called Chaoswave.

Check out the mp3s (full songs) on that link. I think it sounds quite awesome. Very Nevermore inspired with male/female vocal melodies and a fucking killer bass sound!

Heavy!

Woo, heavy indeed. Like it, though.

I hope bands start being a bit more origional, though. We don't need millions of Nevermore clones...

The Chaoswave debut is on its way to me... should have a rating (or review) on the MCDR site soon.

Today I went and bought the cd. I kept playing those 2 songs over and over and just needed to hear the rest of the album.

After the first listen I am quite impressed. There is a few things I could nitpick (vocals can get annoying sometimes for example) but overall it's a very solid debut.

now lets hear some more comments!

Ah, nice find! :) Though I thought they had exclusive female vocals, but there was a not-so-convincing male vocalist as well... oh well.
Anyway, quite good. Overall quite different touch than other bands, might not be anything original, but still. I've heard only little Lacuna Coil, so I didn't notice the similarities at all.
Another band added to my endless buy-list ;)

Well it has been a few months since I bought this album and I still like it quite a bit. They are from Italy, yes, and they do have male/female vocals. The similarities with Lacuna Coil ends there. They do sound a bit like Nevermore, mostly because of the heavy sound, but I think they bring enough different elements to their songs to keep them from being just a 'copycat'.

I would give them either a 3.5 or a 4 out of 5. For me the songs are good and the sound is great. The bass is what I love the most. Fucken heavy as hell and grooves. I can't say that for many other bands.

I don't find the songs forgettable either.

And I don't really understand what you mean in the above quote.

First off, I think whether or not a metal fan is going to like this CD is going to boil down to taste, and I tried to make that clear in my review. 8)

You said it yourself... "The bass is what I love the most. Fucken heavy as hell and grooves."
I agree it does, but it doesn't work with me. For some reason, Communic (who has a similar sound) has completely pulled me in, but Chaoswave has not. :?
I'm not a fan of modern metal and the style's too present with Chaoswave (for me personally). 8)

Keep in mind, I'm glad you like the CD and I feel others will as well, but there are many fans of the MCDR site who have similar tastes to mine, and those are the ones that need to be hesitant going in.

EDIT: Here's another review I just found, and the reviewer touches a bit on the same things I did.
