Not much of a surprise in this. They had cover versions of punk stuff (Die, Die My Darling, Last Caress and others) and it seems they always liked punk. And it's a fact that they abandoned metal 10 years ago (not yesterday, 10 YEARS AGO).

As for the song ... it's not my thing. Someone that likes Offspring or Geenday might like it. But I rather listen to this than St. Anger.

Woah... what will they think of next?

Wierd.

Anyway, I appreciate the effort but there are other bands that do this kind of thing better, guys.

I won't say it was bad, it wasn't, but it was a punk song. Obviously this may not end up on an album and the band could just be fucking around, but if this is the next installment of Metallica that'll just be weird.

Heard it last week. Thought it was crap. Sounds like Offspring or something.

Ho and hum.

What's sad is that if this song had come out earlier in their career, I would have said "WTF!!! OMG!!! What are they doing???", but after St. Anger, it's an improvement!

Yeah, it is better than St. Anger, so was the first new song I thought. But thats not really saying much. This song reminded me of Bad Religion which is an awesome band.

Wooooooooooooooaaaaaaawoooooohhhh
This song is mediocre
WoooooooooooooooaaaaahhhhYEAH!
We have no sense of identity anymore!
Huuuuuuuuuuuyyyyyyyyaaaaaaahhhhh!

While not terrible, it's also not very good. I did like the little breakdown at around the 2:30 mark, but it's gone too quickly and goes back to the 42nd Woooah! The rest of the song has a weak riff, and they have a great bassist in Rob, but like Jasonic, they refuse to use him to his full potential. Let Rob write some killer basslines for this and the other song on Youtube right now, cut out the fucking Wooahs and yeahs, remind James that he can't actually sing, and they might have something. A very big MIGHT.

Honestly it sounds something that could have been on ReLoad, and going back and trying to perfect that sound would probably be the best thing they could do at this point. But, really, there's so many great bands putting out much better music these days, I don't see why anyone would even want to want to bother with these guys or Slayer anymore. I'll stick to bands that haven't reached their Sell by Date just yet. I mean, comparing this to something like Katorz, well there's really no comparison. Voivod does the stramlined Metal sound way better than Metallica could ever hope to.

Actually I love the fact that this was pretty much the last thing I expected a song off the new album (if it does end up on it) to sound like. That would be a much better new direction for them than the one they will probably end up taking...

That said, the song is just average in itself.

He's not saying, "Metal Taurus," is he?

Anyway, the song isn't bad (and the solo is actually quite good), but it's like Megadeth's The Disintegrators - it's just a generic pseudo-thrash song. Nothing really special or interesting about it. And James's "Whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa"'s almost completely ruin it.

The Desintegrators is a thousand times better than this.

Not much of a complement, though.

Hehehe look at the look on Rob's face. I bet he's regretting joining up now.

Considering he's finally a rich man after all those years working his ass off, I doubt he's too bothered.

Indeed, if anybody deserves a ride on the money train, it would be him. I don't think Suicidal Tendencies made him very much money, and I'm sure mega-cunt Sharon Osbourne didn't pay him near what he is worth.

hey, if I were able to play alongside Ozzy, I wouldn't even ASK for money.

An improvement over St Anger, to be sure, but... What the fuck? At least the part at 2:20 is good for a few seconds.

And James sounds so utterly bored at the beginning: "You guys... Want to hear.. Another song? From the new album?"

In all honesty, he probably was. I don't even think they really like what they've been doing either. I think the band is desperate to find their place after all that time off before St. Anger, and they don't really have a clear vision of where to go.
