I posted earlier this month about newer Power Metal bands that I should check out, and I got a good repsonse. But now I want to see what you guys think is the best Old School Power Metal band.

Yes! Their first two albums are a bit in the Satanic realm but one their third release they started to sing about Pirates! And they havn't looked back yet. They have also been around for like 20 plus years now.

You have never heard of Runnig Wild??? theyre a cover band ,They do covers of the pirate band Running Wild .

poor vote list... i happen to be listening to Metal On Metal now and it's no power metal

Running Wild produced some of the FINEST black metal in their first 2 albums.... everything after that just pales in comparison imo, whenever Branded And Exiled finishes and Under Jolly Roger starts right after. It's still good anyway, just much weaker than the first 2 imo. Some of the finest black/speed songs ever, essential!

This is a tricky one because none of these bands havent put out a string of shitty albums. I'd go with Helloween through the second Keepers album. Gamma Ray's middle albums are really good ( Somewhere in Space through Power Plant). Running Wild's First 4-5 albums are really good, not as good as the Helloween ones though. Rage has some god ones (ie. Reign of Fear, Execution Guaranteed). Manowar is good too but musically inferior than the rest. Never really liked Armoured Saint...and...well there you have it. Grave Digger's first album is good, but everything else sucks. Anvil's first two are pretty good...but they're too damn goofy.

You don't have Agent Steel on the list, and you should. Everything they ever put out, including the new stuff is beyond awesome.
