Which one you like most? I have a hard time deciding, but I know that it isn't The Damnation Game or the S/T, although I love them both. A lot of people seem to diss the S/T, mainly because of the vocalist Rod Tyler, but I think it's a great album and I think Rod has a cool unique voice that fits with the lyrical themes sort of, him sounding kind of like an oppressed kind of guy. Their four latest albums are all masterpieces, although some of the songs on The Odyssey are kind of weak for their standards. V is probably my favorite ever concept album, I thought it was boring at first but then I saw it's genious. Now i've prolly listened to it most of all their albums. |

It's gotta be V for me. I love that album from cover to cover. I love all their albums, but V is the one I can listen to whatever mood I am in. It's such an awsome album. |

I have liked Symphony X for years and Odyssey is my favorite. I saw them perform a few of the songs live when the album first came out and fell in love with them. While I listen to alot of proggy metal and the Odyssey is their least prog, I still like it best. The songs are the best written that they have done and in my opinion the most metal. PS Symphony X played with Blind Guardian that night for a kick-ass show. Weirdly enough, Avenged Sevenfold opened up that night and I could swear they had long hair and played harder than they do now. They still sucked though. |

I voted for The Odyssey because it's the only album I own by them, and I wasn't very impressed. The production is crap, it sounds fine, but it's weak, it stripped away all of the oomph! that it should have had. |

Avenged Sevenfold began as a heavier screamo band. They still had some clean vocals, but very little, and over the course of three albums and an EP they've changed with each album, following trends. Now the singer, apparently, can't scream anymore, so he taught himself to sing through his nose, I guess. They're a joke, changing with the wind. But alas, there are too many threads already dedicated to this band, so...as you were... |

I think the production is fine adn actually a little bassier than the previous works. More full sounding. The title track is great and songs like wicked really show off Allen's singing voice, which is top notch. This feels to me like a Russell Allen slanted album and I am more than fine with that. I also find it to be the only Symphony X album I can sit through all the way through. As much as I like them, I get bored about halfway through most of their albums. All except for Odyssey. |

I had to go with the Odyssey. That's not to say that I don't love DWOT, V, and Twilight, but the Odyssey is just a brilliant album from start to finish. The title track being one of the most overwhelming and successful attempts at truly epic powermetal. I was introduced to them seeing them play in Dallas with Blind Guardian. It was a fantastic show and even though Romeo blew his amp it still rocked all shit(I mean nothing compared to the BG set) |

I don't know, I don't like how nothing rings out. It's just very precise, there's nothing loose about it. I think that sort of cancels out the sonic quality that an album like that should have. I won't go as far as saying it's a bad album, and I should probably give it more listens, but I do remember not liking that production much. |

Odyssey. The first time I ever heard them was last year when I saw them at Gigantour. They were awesome. Inferno and Wicked are great live. |

'V' for me, and 'DWoT' is probably next. I thought "Odyssey" was a really weak album all the way around. -Tyrion |

There's a lot of metal bands out there that I haven't heard, bands that most would think I should have heard by now! Hehe. Mainly it's because I buy so much music (all kinds of genres) and because I buy my music. If I could afford to pay $15.99 per CD I would, but I generally have to wait to find things used. Unless it's a band like your band where I'll never find it used around here, then I pay the full amount. Symphony X is a band that I'm always on the lookout for, but their albums just aren't anywhere around. So, to answer your question, nope. I've only heard The Odyssey. ![]() |

The Divine Wings of Tragedy is their best album but I prefer Th Oddessy by a small margin, because it's the one that got me to listen to this band in the first place. V, on the other hand, is a bore and couldn't be more bland ZZZZZZZZZZZZ. |

I love the odyssey but cuz of some minor flaws I can't say it's my favorite. The song Incantatioins of the Apperentice is an average song imo, it's tedious somehow. "Wicked" is a song that I used to love but got a bit bored of after many listens, and lastly I think Accolade II cannot compare to the original. The production on the cd however sounds fine to me. ![]() You should get their albums. SX is a unique band, that has influenced a lot of bands, bands that i've seen you enjoy. For example: Time Requiem, Communic, Circus Maximus, Adagio and also Kamelot. Im sure i've seen you dig some of these. |
