I am going away this weekend to a friends house. He lives near a lot of cd stores, and I am currently trying to have a power metal revolution (I have been listening to a lot of thrash and death metal) and I know this one store has a good metal selection and there is quite a few of HammerFall cds their so I need to know what is the best in their discography. In order from best to worst (I own none of their albums, and own very few power metal albums at all). They also have some Kamelot, so if you could do the same with their discography it would be greatly appreciated. I have until Thursday night to read what you all have to say. Thank you in advance. PS If you have any other good power metal bands or bands that would be good that are more popular and could probaly be found in a HMV or something like that it would also be greatly appreciated. |

I only have the I Want Out EP by Hammerfall and I only have The Black Halo by Kamelot. The I Want Out EP has a nice cover of the Helloween classic, but it's essentially identical. I know that doesn't help much, but I ramble. The Black Halo, however, is awesome! I bought that CD late last year and listened to it hundreds of times in about a month! It's killer. I highly recommend that one. |

With HammerFall, there's two albums that spring to mind as being essential; "Glory To The Brave" and "Legacy Of Kings." Especially "Glory To The Brave." |

Hammerfall I dig ok, you will like if you like a mix of Dokken and Aceppt. Anyways all of their albums are decent but the 1st 2 are the best, the newest one is pretty good also. |

Kamelot are one of the best PM bands out there. I agree with Ken that The Black Halo is amazing, but it also has some filler songs. Epica, however, is perfect in my opinion, with Karma and The Fourth Legacy following closely. Get them ASAP!! Other amazing PM bands are Dionysus, Dreamtale and Masterplan. |

Id say Masterplan is more of a Melodic Metal/Hard Rock band. |

Hammerfall 1 - Glory to the Brave 2 - Legacy of Kings Kamelot 1 - Karma 2 - Epica 3 - The Black Halo As for power metal suggestions, I don't know where to start. I guess you could just go with the big names. Gamma Ray, Helloween, Stratovarius, Edguy. Here are some suggestions - Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera Iron Savior - Condition Red Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out in Space Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys II Avantasia - I or II Stratovarius - Visions Any one of those cds should work for you if you want to explore the genre. I recommend going there websites and listening to some samples before going on a spending spree. |

Hammerfall: 1. Legacy of Kings (it has my 2 favorite HF songs, Heeding the Call and Stronger Than All) 2. Glory to the Brave Kamelot: Everything with Roy Khan is excellent. metalNESS wrote: As for power metal suggestions, I don't know where to start. I guess you could just go with the big names. Here are some suggestions - Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera Iron Savior - Condition Red Gamma Ray - Somewhere Out in Space Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys II Avantasia - I or II Stratovarius - Visions That's a very good list, but I wouldn't use ANATO to introduce BG to a thrash fan. He should start with Imaginations... or Tales from the Twilight World. And imho, Avantasia is ten thousand times better than Aina. |

Kamelot and Hammerfall are two great bands indeed, and almost all the sugested bands are excellent as well, but there is so much more to discover. With other words, i hereby ask all of the PM-heads to share some new discoveries  |

Just for you Flingon, go listen to Sabaton and Hibria if you haven't already. Silent Force also make great speedy melodic PM. Angel Dust don't seem to get a lot of mention, but I stroblgy recommend them. Melodic PM with a crunchy centre and a great (powerful midrange) vocalist. |

For some slightly more unknown, but excellent power metal you should check out Edenbridge, Redemption and Wuthering Heights. But you probably know of them already... |

If you like the Hammerfall style I would suggest Pegazus - Breaking the chains as well. |

Angel Dust don't seem to get a lot of mention, but I stroblgy recommend them. Melodic PM with a crunchy centre and a great (powerful midrange) vocalist. Yeah AD rules, but what was their last album called? It escapes me but it sucked. But EtD and the one before it fucking own. Dudes vocals smoke. That song Breaking the Chains on EtD is so good. You know despite all of you all being dicks (kidding) this is still the coolest place around for Power Metal love even if some of it you all dig I can't stand. Hey has anyone on here heard Widow on Cruz del la Sur label (same as Pharoah). I almost bought one of their albums in Taiwan, same with Hyberia. Worth it or not? |

I definitely agree on the Angel Dust. EtD is quite awesome. Some stuff that I haven't seen mentioned (might have missed it though). Adagio - Dominate Edguy - Hellfire Club (others too but HC pwns) Freedom Call - Eternity LOST HORIZON - BOTH ALBUMS Looks like everybody else has great suggestions too. |

HammerFall 1. Chapter V 2. Crimson Thunder 3. Glory To The Brave 4. Legacy Of Kings 5. Renegade Kamelot 1. The Black Halo 2. Epica 3. Karma every other Kamelot album is rat shit (IMO) Other bands to think about: Primal Fear, Iron Savior, Messiah's Kiss, Domine, Insania, Heavenly, Majesty, Nocturnal Rites, Freedom Call, Dreamtale, Dragonland, Dream Evil, Cryonic Temple, Blind Guardian and Edguy. That should keep you busy |
