Well, my jaw didn't drop, I wasn't expecting it to be good anyway, but this isn't that bad. Actually, this would be the best song on St. Wanker. Better than what they released in their last 3 albums but not good enough to light the old flame.

Having said that I must say I enjoyed the sloppy double bass parts and the guitar solo (as much as I could hear it).

He says "Death is not the end" at the ending, I guess that's what they'll call it.

btw: This thread doesn't belong in this forum, obviously.

Hmm.. That surprised me quite abit. Not great, but a good solid Metallica song. Did they learn their lesson? Will they release a decent album for the first time in 15 years? Yes I know when the last time they released a good album is debatable so dont bother.

Just listening to it now...

not bad, of course its totally not complete, so it could sound better (or worse). I'm just glad that the solo is back and some really nice and heavy double bass pounding.

And your right, its incomplete, but still better than anything from St. Stinker

It's the best thing they've done since the black album, the best thing Metallica have done in 15 years - that's for sure.

I really don't know what to think of it. It is better than anything on St. Anger though. It will be interesting to hear this album when it comes out.

A lot of positive feed backs. Well, i really dont expect them to reproduce any of their earlier stuff, but a decent metal album would do. I pretty much liked the black album, so if this new material is more or less like it, i might pick it up. I'm no fan of this band, haven't cared for them since Reload, lemme see if the upcoming album is worth picking up.

It's better than I expected but good by comparison doesn't mean good. It's kind of groovy. In a bad way. Like the new Exodus.

Wow. Not bad at all. I'm not sure about all the talk about it being the best thing since the black album, it has the sound of Load and Reload. Still, it definitely sounds like it'll be a damn good song all cleaned up.

Hope-O-Meter has gone up a few notches.

the opening of the song is boring... it then gets a little better but I bet the guys can still ruin it with a crappy production.

also it's too long, something Metallica regularily does...

still a return to Load/Reload was the best I expected... chances are I'll get what I hoped for...

St. Anger was the only album in which they had songs too long.

nope
there was a few on Load & Reload as well... even on ...And Just For All imo.

NP
Rage "Lingua Mortis"
(1996, it's not bad but the band is mixed way too low :? )

This song is pretty crappy. It plods, has no interesting riffage, goes on for way too long... Basically, its a post 80s Metallica song (though Stefan is right in noting that some Justice songs were too long for their own good too).

No improvement, really. Its certainly not as bad as most songs on St. Anger, but it wouldn't be out of place there either.

Sorry Metallica, you still suck.

Which songs? No way, that album is perfect!

To Live is To Die for example... 6mn would have been enough...

Yeah, and whatever the exact length is now is perfectly fine. Nothing is too long.

I'd say To Live is To Die goes on for about a minute too long, and the same thing with ...And Justice. However, the excess length doesn't really hurt the songs too much on ..And Justice as it does on other Metallica releases. The reasons I don't like ...And Justice too much can be related to other things.

This song is lame and boring. It's not St. OHGODMYEARSMYEARS, but that doesn't mean it's good.

Hopeometer down 339867247234023647 points to negative 4239846327423864872934237854239432.

I wish James would just go away and Lars would just become a record exec and they would stop making music and shitting all over the memory of Cliff and their 1st 3 albums.

What a travesty this band has become. I do like Load but the rest since Masters is all shit, that includes Justice and the Black Album.
