Post subject:  The next big Power Metal band

Obviously there are way too many copy cat power metal bands out there. It seems like the genre is getting rather stale. There are, however, a few diamonds in the rough that will bring the genre back to a higher level. What bands do you think will bring new light into the genre?

My picks are;

Cellador - A fast catchy young band with talent. They will only get better.

Twilightning - Another young band with talent. They play power metal, but in a new fresh sounding way.

Dragonforce - For obvious reasons

Of course there are other bands out there that will continue to bring quality material (Blind Guardian, Sonata Arctica, Gamma Ray, Helloween), but they have already made their mark. Who is next?

Hibria (how could you forget them? :P ) - Fast, melodic, heavy as all hell with a voclaist that can stand tall with the best of them.

Sabaton - No originality whatsoever, but on Primo Victoria they delivered the best "true" metal album since Lost Horizon's debut album.

Timeless Miracle - Happy melodic power emtal that put Freedom Call to shame. Their debut is WAY up there with my favorite albums of 2005.

I agree with Timeless Miracle. Dragonforce obviously will be (or actually are right now). Nightscape had a nice debut. But I dunno, those are ones I like and I havent listened to as much Power Metal as I used to.

I think of Dragonforce more as a fad. People are crazy about their speed, but unless they change their album format, I fail to see how they'll still be considered as great as they are today. Once they've released their seventh album and it sounds just like their first 6...

AVENGED SEVENFOLD... what else ?

HEROD is kinda cool too, old metal with a more modern sound...

and I bet on DRAGONFORCE & CELLADOR too... seeing how metalheads hate when things change, those band should perfectly fit !

the latest ADAGIO should please many people too... and this band yet has to release bad album... 8)

I heard a song or two from this band called Easy Rider from Spain....thought that was pretty good. Sounded more old school than a lot of the PM bands coming out now. Not sure how old they are though.

Primal Fear tbh, seeing what they did on Seven Seals.

Kamelot?

How the hell did I forget Hibria? Yes definitely a band to look for in the future. I also agree with Stefan on Adagio. They are yet to make a bad album and Stephan Forte is a damn fine musician.

As for Kamelot and Primal Fear, well, they have both been around for a while.

MetalNESS saying Cellador? Nofuckingway!! I'll go with that, though, they're definitely a contender. I'd also add:

Theocracy

Kiuas and Dark Empire are two of my obvious choices. I guess Pyramaze and Masterplan for making quite an impact with only 2 albums of high quality.

And i'll second Ness suggestion for Twilightning, although I'm a bit worried before their next album.

Yeah Theocracy is another good one. Judging by the sound clips I have heard the second album should be even better than the debut, which is saying a lot.

It certainly took some time for them, but Fear could evolve into a band that could take power metal to new heights.

My first thought. They need to do more Metal Hammer interviews first, though. And Communic seem to be heading towards popularity...

And a HUGE  @ Stefan and his ridiculous obsession with Avenged Shitfold.

Yeah, I have a feeling this new album is going to be awesome!

And Masterplan are not power metal. I wish people would stop labelling them as that. Also, from listening to this new Communic album they're also not power metal.
