So I have this new album Waves of Visual Decay...and...WOW!! It's fucking awesome! I've not heard them before this, but I've always heard good things.

Enlighten me.

Fairly uninteresting clone band

Nothing special. Conspiracy In Mind (first album) takes time to get into. Influences are obviously from Nevermore and I think some Symphony X or other prog band. 70/100 for the first, haven't heard the new one.

I hear Zero Hour, that sort, not Nevermore or Symphony X.

Never heard of them so i wouldn't know.

They sound like Twelfth Gate, but that was already discussed at another thread. :P

I don't hear that either, but I've only heard this new album. You should definitely check out Zero Hour!

THERE FOR ME from A Fragile Mind
STRATAGEM from The Towers Of Avarice
EYES OF DENIAL Clip from Metamorphosis
THE SYSTEM REMAINS Clip from Metamorphosis
VOICE OF REASON Clip from Metamorphosis
METAMORPHOSIS I: DESCENT Clip from Metamorphosis
METAMORPHOSIS II: AWAKEN Clip from Metamorphosis
METAMORPHOSIS III: UNION Clip from Metamorphosis
METAMORPHOSIS V: ASCENT Clip from Metamorphosis

I just cut and pasted these from the old thread I started, not sure if all the links still work. Definitely worth checking out though.

You're right about the first (that it takes time to get into) but nothing special? Very wrong. Communic plays a very special kind of progressive metal that is consistent and well-made on all levels. Great songwriting, singing, musicianship. The band's only problem is that their style is unconventional and just plain hard to get into... a band bound to be misunderstood, unfortunately.

I would rate their first album 90/100.

Well, the new album is awesome. Here's a new song:

UNDER A LUMINOUS SKY
MY BLEEDING VICTIM

Sounds like Zero Hour meets Nevermore with some almost-Halford-like wails. Excellent stuff. Can't wait to get the real CDs!

I agree that Communic are awesome, but they do take a few listens to get into.

These samples kick serious amount of ass. I'm gonna look for this one.

What he said. Conspiracy In Mind was a tad repetitive as far as I saw, am interested in the one one...

Some early impressions... i had high anticipations for their new album and i must say i'm not disappointed. It's not (yet) as good as their first album as the songs feel somewhat disjointed by comparison. This hurts the overall flow and makes some songs feel a little bit too long, which was never the case on their first album...

Anything i write is just nitpicking though. 'Waves of Visual Decay' feels like "more of the same", which is great in this context. A slight difference is that this album is more riff-oriented. Great, great stuff, and as with their first album, this new one grows day by day.

Just heard one of their songs on a local metal radio show playing at the moment. Pretty good, the announcer did mention a strong simarlarity with Nevermore

I heard this album now and it rocks. It's more agressive then Conspiracy In Mind, with harsher riffs, less acoustic passages and the guitars more emphasized by the production. But the quality is the same, I can't really chose between the two. They're both mandatory, as far as I am concerned.

Sounds good. I'll have to give the first album another try, the single put me off hearing more...

I can hear a bit of Nevermore, but not as much as people say. Anyway, as you said, not a bad thing.

it's true that communic was heavily influenced by nevermore on the first album.

with this new release, they've definitely found their own sound !

waves of visual decline is a prog/power metal album no one should overlook. i truly hope people will try to get into this band which takes some spins to understand and to love.
