No Iron Maiden albums have a fully NWOBHM sound, but you can hear bits and pieces on the debut and Killers. For Def Leppard, only the debut full-length and the preceding EPs. Saxon - everything from the debut until The Power and the Glory. |

Also Iron Maiden related, check out the 2 Samson albums with Dickinson on vocals, recorded before he joined Maiden. Both are great albums.... NWOBHM with a bluesy twist. |

Nearly all of them have some NWOBHM aspects, but Killers and the debut are really the truly NWOBHM ones. |

I already have Head On, and i prefer Dickinson's vocals here than with IM; although i don't have Shock Tactics...is it any different? |

The first three Iron Maiden albums are 100% NWOBHM. Def Leppards first album is the only one that could be called NWOBHM....and Saxon, well, they're a NWOBHM band and thus the majority of their catalog, with the exception of the stuff in the 90's and 00's can be classified as NWOBHM. So there, trust me I'm an expert on this genre. ![]() |

![]() I can hardly believe that stuff like Crusader or Destiny is considered NWOBHM. |

They're not - Holy_Terror may be an expert (if he does say so himself  ), but if he is he has obviously never listened to anything Saxon put out between the mid 80s and mid 90s, because it was mostly cock rock. |

More like early 70's Whitesnake with Bruce on vocals. That said it is great stuff if you like bluesy rock but don't expect it to be Metal at all. |

Saxon wasn't "cock" rock but it definetly was very commercial sounding after Power and the Glory. Not to the degree of Def Leppard, but still to give Saxon a free pass and chew out other bands for going commercial (Priest on Turbo for instances) is some what ludicrious. Saxon is untouchable with the True hordes no matter what shit they put out. |

Saxon is untouchable with the True hordes no matter what shit they put out. Well, at least they learned their lesson and are back playing Metal again - the live show also completely skips everything between Power and the Glory and Unleash the Beast. |

You guys havent heard enough NWOBHM. A lot of those bands, esepcially the ones that put out releases in 80 and 81 had a very rockin sound that some of you would equate with Cock Rock. And I've heard just about every Saxon release, and up until the 90's they were NWOBHM, after that they became power metal. But seriously, listen to more NWOBHM and you'll hear quite a bit of rocking. |

Not true: they still play Crusader, Solid ball of Rock and Dogs of War(which really kicks ass)....and even Broken Heroes from Innocence is no Excuse! |

Oops, I actually meant to count Crusader as the last credible album, not Power & Glory. Well, when I've seen them Dogs of War and Broken Heroes (great song) haven't been included on the set list...lets just say they skip all the crap they did over that period (they always had one or two serious songs on the shitty albums). |
