Kai Hansen is the God of writing melodic metal and playing guitar, however, his voice is nothing more than mediocre! Gamma Ray could really need a powerful singer. Michael Kiske would do fine. What about the singer from BloodBound that just left the band, would he not be a great choice for Gamma Ray?

Nah I think he is an awesome vocalist. Distinctive and has a metal "i don't care"-feel to him, like: "I don't care if I don't sound like a typical vocalist, im not embarrassed about my singing and I think my voice is good. If you don't like it listen to something else"

But to each and his own

Thats absurd. I will eat your legs.

Kai is one of the greatest vocalists I have ever had the pleasure of listening to.

As he said, Kai pretty makes Gamma Ray what it is. The first time I heard Somewhere out in Space (I was just getting into power metal at the time) his voice definitely made me :omfg:. Was different than other stuff I heard...

But then I realized how it fit the music and gave it that Gamma Ray charm...

Gamma Ray = perfect! Even though I found their last album stale for the amount of time it took to be written. Only a couple of awesome moments on that one

I do appreciate his voice. Though his voice is not good as M.kiske. He's a really talented composer. Maybe M.kiske can be a guest vocal to Gamma Ray!

Eh, he's no Kiske, but he's not too shabby. By the time he took up the vocals for Land of the Free he sounded alright. Still, I think it would be nice to hear Gamma Ray with a more capable and powerful vocalist, since I'm not much of a Kai fanboy, but I guess Gamma Ray fans are content.

For what it's worth, he's still better than Ralf Scheepers. That motherfucker annoyed me.

[quote="metalNESS"]No.

Which is why I don't listen to Gamma Ray.

His guitar playing is great, but as "unique" as he sounds vocally, it's unique crap most of the time. You can have a good singer with a unique sound too, and Kai is NOT it.

No way his voice is Gamma Ray . Sure it would be awesome to have Michael Kiske or Daniel Heiman on vocals but it wouldn't be the same so I vote no. What would be awesome if Kai and Michael got back with the remaining original Helloween lineup to do an album wont happen but I can dream.

No way. Kai's voice is really unique and lends something special to Gamma Ray. Plus he sounds totally insane sometimes, which I'm all for.

Kai is awesome. The only way I'd be happy if he quit doing vocals would be if Kiske sang for them.

Kai is better than Kiske, IMO. I love just how (like how Rad said) he sounds insane, just listen to The Heart of The Unicorn, the vocal performance is :dio: He has a perfect voice and can be replaced by nobody, nobody dammit!!
