Post subject:  Science fiction in Heavy Metal
Guys, which heavy metals group you know dedicated music to science fiction theme? For instance, Scanner (Hypertrace album), Iron Maiden (Caught somewhere in time)...

P.S. My defiance to all fucking demons, elfs, goblins etc in Heavy Metal... Don't litter the music...

Bal Sagoth is almost entirely science fiction. Cynic and Massacre have a healthy dose of science fiction in their music as well.

Luca Turilli's Prophet of the Last Eclipse and Demonheart EP. Great albums.

Oratory, a little known power metal band from Portugal. Not very well-known, but excellent.

And as someone mentioned, Ayreon. The Final Experiment, Actual Fantasy, Into The Electric Castle, The Dream Sequencer and Flight Of The Navigator. I don't get the sci-fi vibe from The Human Equation, though, even considering the ending of it, but I guess you could include it. And you could include Arjen's Star One project, of course.

Then there's Richard Andersson's Space Odyssey albums, Embrace The Galaxy and The Astral Episode, two albums that have absolutely nothing to do with science fiction, or even space for that matter. Never judge a book by its cover, right? Haha. They're both killer albums, though.

Iron Maiden is the king of fantasy metal...I know that Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and one other album are both entire CD's dedicated to fantasy book series.

How could no-one have mentioned Bloodhag! They are a decent hard-core (they label themselves "edu-core") band that are entirely devoted to science-fiction! Their first single was called "Arthur C Clarke" and is all about his life and works. All their songs are about obscure (and not so obscure) sci-fi books, they only do concerts in libraries, and they throw out free sci-fi books during shows. I don't know if they are still around, but they're a hoot if you can find a cd of theirs. www.bloodhag.com is their site.

All Iron Savior. If you want sci-fi metal, this is the band for you. All their lyrics are one single concept that continues to expand through each album (I'm not going to guarantee whether its good or not).

Morifade do 1984-type sci-fi lyrics.
