Its a bit of a shame this band has gone to pieces over the last few years. I've had their Border of Reality album for over a year now and recently bought Enlighten the Darkness and Of Human Bonage.

Very impressive stuff - melodic, heavy, dark Power Metal. Very atmospheric and the vocalist Dirk Thurisch is incredible. Another bonus is the very tasteful use of keyboards - present in every song but never (or very rarely) over the top or with that 'tacked on' feeling.

Ive only heard "Enlighten The Darkness" by them and it owns.

I think people who want more Angel Dust should check out the side project of Dirk Thurisch called Mercury Tide. They only have the one album called "Why?". The vibe is different from the one AD album Ive heard, but there are alot of similarities in the music and vocals (obviously).

I used to have Enlighten the Darkness, it was allright. It didn't stand out to me, but everyone tells me their early stuff is better, so I might give them another try.

Depends by what you mean by 'early' stuff. They did two albums in the eighties as a Thrash band, then disappeared for about 10 years before the rhythm section came back with a new line-up and sound - essentially a different band. Or you could just be hearing about the first two albums they did with the new line-up, of which I can strongly vouch for the first one, Border of Reality.

Ah, I see. I don't know much about them. But the fella telling me that is a Thrash fan, so I'd guess he was referring to that.

What I like most about these guys is they have a clean vocalist, yet they still come off as being very dark. That and they are heavy fast (most of the time) power metal. Good band. I only own Enlighten the Darkness, but I have been meaning to check out more by them.

Great band. I love Enlighten the Darkness. I've listened to Of Human Bondage and Border of Reality but need to hear them more. I liked them a lot upon first listen.

I only have Bleed and it's a good album I plan on getting more of their back catalog.

Angel Dust totally rock. I have "Bleed", "Enlighten The Darkness" and "Of Human Bondage", plus have that Mercury Tide album "Why". That too is pretty good but different than the typical AD sound.

I'd put Bleed above Enlighten The Darkness and Of Human Bondage, but all 3 kick ass.

Huh, are they still together? The last I heard them was breaking up a few years ago..

But you should get "Bleed" as it is their most solid album as a whole, maybe with Enlighten The Darkness coming close with a couple of killer tunes. But as other chaps earlier in this thread, I strongly recommed this one. "Of Human Bondage" (Rage reminder.. :) ) was an expected letdown after they replaced great Bernd Aufermann with the (Jon Schaffer's right hand man) Ritchie Wilkinson.

They're still together but without Frank Banx and Dirk Thurisch. Aufermann is back in.
