But i can dig almost anything by Thin Lizzy.

Truthfully? They get a bit same-y for me. And after a while his voice gets annoying.

Have to disagree here... I find Lynott to be one of the best vocalists in Hard Rock. Has anyone heard him playing the Parson in Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds musical? Awesome performance! In terms of individuality and charisma it's hard to beat him, and he could also hold a tune better than many... Not sure where samey comes from...Don't you listen to Anaal Nathrakh? *WINK*

My favourite songs: I love Thunder and Lightning, The Rocker, Emerald, Do Anything You Want... Mainly the big hits. I never really went deep into their back catalogue...

Yeah, I should have said his voice sounds individual and charismatic to me (much like his persona on stage).

(I also like AN but still find them a bit samey)

Yeah, fantastic band Thin Lizzy. I especially love Emerald.

I definately hear Thin Lizzy in early Judas Priest and Quartz albums.

indeed, but you hear some Led Zeppelin (sometimes very obvious in early Priest material) & Wishbone Ash too...

these two bands can too be considered as an influence to the NWOBHM

then, some other NWOBHM bands (Tank, Raven, Venom) have obviously been very influenced by Motorhead..

I always thought Thin Lizzy were kind of the Godfathers of the NWOBHM along with Judas Priest... but TL were always better !

SO I've been listening to the album Fighting for the last three days straight. Man, if there was ever any confusion as to where Judas Priest and Maiden got their sound.....then this should clear it up. Fuck the song Wild One is the first NWOBHM song ever written....and it was right under my nose the whole time. FUCK this is good!!

Yep great band, my favourites in no particular order are: Thunder And Lightining Johny The Fox Vagabonds of the Western World Jailbreak Fighting Renegade But i can dig almost anything by Thin Lizzy.

I mean the way he uses his voice. Once you know the voice, it gets a little boring for me. I still listen to it, though. The songs are similar as well. Never really got deep in either. And AN isn't samey at all! If you'd have said Sunn O))).....

And you don't listen to AN for a nice calm space-out, so saminess isn't really a factor. Or is it? Interesting. I find stuff that's too repetetive calms me down, however violent it is. Sometimes I stay awake more to calmer stuff than I do to more violent music.

You may be right, but i still like thunder and lightning, this was the first thin lizzy album i heard,it has some great songs , even if they are not "Traditional" thin lizzy songs.

I have to say Shades of a Blue Orphanage is not that bad(certainly better than StAnger );The Rise and Dear Demise of the Funky Nomadic Tribes is pretty cool,and so are some other songs(Brought Down,Call the Police,Chatting Today);but the highlight of the album is the title track.....pure magic vibration!
