I'm turning into an obsessive fangirl of Blind Guardian, they just make me so giddy. I'm new to power metal so they're most all I know but I was wondering...If I like Blind Guardian, who else might I like?
Thanks for the imput in advance!

Yeah, and try these too: Grave Digger, Iron Savior, Paragon...

And maybe some happier stuff to even it out: Gamma Ray, Lost Horizon, Elvenking, Helloween, DragonForce, Power Quest, Arthemis...

If you don't mind high pitched Power Metal vocals check these bands out, but if you like more aggresive sounding vocals check out what Clint and MetalKnight suggested.

if you want more aggressive power metal than you should buy the first Steel Attack album and let it kick your ass.

Pffft...ALL Helloween. Try Iced Earth, if you like them move onto Demons & Wizards. That is Jon from Iced Earth's and Hansi from Blind Guardian's side-project. Great stuff.

Eh, I know we butt heads on this topic eyesore so I'm just gonna leave it at that....but you must admit that if she likes Blind Guardian there's a good chance she'll like old Nocturnal RItes.

Hehehe. Don't think I get pissy, or anything, it's all good, homey. :D And yes, she would most likely like old school Nocturnal Rites.

Whenever I think of power metal I think of these wise words:

"Kamelot > All"

It would propably help if you could say what you like about BG, since their albums are so different. Is it more the thrashy in your face songs or those that you hear by the campfire?
Anyway a lot of good bands already mentioned in this thread so I can't say anything more before knowing something more about what you like.

Unfortunately for you,you began with the very best in their category,so you might be dissapointed with the others.

Anyway, you can try Angra, they are more progressive and have great guitar work, but they're softer. You can try SymphonyX,they're even more progressive, and have a keyboard player, but kick more ass than Angra, and have a good singer.
You can also try Sonata Arctica, they're less progressive, very melancholic, even softer than Angra, but great vocals, and great songwriting.
And finally,as someone said before,Kamelot:they are "classy",with a good singer and modern sound and arrangements.

Avoid Stratovarius and Edguy ! :D (sorry young fellows)

There aren't too many other bands within power metal that I would recommend, BLind Guardian is the best of it all, IMHO. Helloween and Kamelot are good ones. On the progressive side, Symphony X is the best bet (more edgey and not quite as dragged along as Dream Theater). Iced Earth (anything upto Horrow Show with the exclusion of the s/t debut since Gene Adam is terrible) is great, but I wouldnt exactly call that power metal.

Whatever you do, there is one band I recommend you stay away from.... Rhapsody. Way too over the top and way too cheesy. Quite a few of their songs are very painful to listen to. "Forest of Unicorns" in particular.
