Rainbow wins, but Sabbath with Dio was great and better than Ozzy era Sabbath.

I'll go with Sabbath, but my opinion is biased by the fact that i only know Rising from Rainbow(i'll also give it 90/100),and also that i don't know Dehumanizer(is it so bad?).I'll give both Heaven&Hell and Mob Rules a 90/100.Anyway i prefer Iommi's fat guitar sound over Blackmore's tiny stratocaster sound.Sorry!

No, Dehumanizer is not *that* bad! When I saw the video for "TV Crimes" couple of times on Headbanger's Ball back in the day, I then also got into Dio era Black Sabbath. Previously I had not dared to venture into the BS territory cause of the Ozzy thing (didn't like his voice), but this song made me check out the Dio era albums. And I was already a fan of Dio.
Though I do remember Dehumanizer being a slight let down coz I expected more faster material... But it's been ages since I last listened to it. But definately worth getting for any Dio fan! If not just for the cool title and kickass cover! \m/

My toughts exactly, and Heaven and Hell is one of the(if not the) best Sabbath albums.now lets make a poll about Elf.

If I would have heard Elf five years ago, when I was on my classic rock binge, I probably would have liked them a lot more. It's too hard to get into them now.

Elf isn't exactly classic rock.

Bluesy southern rock with some hard rock leanings on their final album.

This is a touch choice, i don't really like to distinguish Dio albums....but I'm gonna go with Rainbow on this one. I like Ritchie Blackmore way better than Tony Iommi.

Rainbow all the way. Black Sabbath pretty much sucked after Sabbath Bloody Sabbath.

i go for Rainbow too, but Dio with Sabbath created my two favourite Sabbath albums, Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules, as for Ozzy, his best effort for me was Blizzard of Oz, Randy Rhodes was awsome.

While I like both, I lean towards Black Sabbath because it's heavier and I do prefer Iommi's sound over Blackmore's (I really do like Blackmore's style though, I wouldnt learn how to play his stuff if I didn't).

While I like Heaven and Hell overall better than both Mob Rules and Dehumanizer, Mob Rules has my favorite Dio era Black Sabbath song - Sign of the Southern Cross

Dio's Sabbath was fine but nothing beats the true classic Sabbath a.k.a 1970-1973...

Black Sabbath (1970) : kind of the birth of heavy metal... loud, raw, elctric & evil blues rock.. the world of music changed with this one 85/100
Paranoid (1970) : filled with timeless classics and improving the formula 90/100
Master of Reality (1971) : see above :) 85/100
Volume 4 (1972) : see above  85/100
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973) : their masterpiece, flawless compositions, godly riffs, great arrangements and production !!! 95/100

the really crazy thing is all that happened between January 1970 & Novembre 1973 (When Sabbath Bloody Sabbath got released), so, basically, in 4 full years, BS delivered 5 classic albums... a performance only achieved (in the metal world) by Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin.... and Ozzy's Black Sabbath..

Sabotage (1975) & Technical Extasy (1976) only proved they'd given it all and it was time for Ozzy to step aside and let BS live a new life....

I think Master of Reality is the highest masterpiece :i give it 99/100!
I hold it higher than Paranoid ,and much higher than Volume 4.
And Sabbath Bloody S is not that flawless:the 2 last songs are really less good than the rest;i'd give it 90/100.

As for the others:st:95/100
Paranoid:95/100
Volume4:85/100
Sabotage:85/100

Technical Ecstasy:60/100
Heaven&Hell:90/100
Mob Rules:90/100

I agree with you on Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die!, but Sabotage is a great record.

Why didn't you mention NSD? Want to forget about it entirely?

that's probably it !

Never Say Die is a very crappy album with one great song (the title track)... I'd give NSD 45/100 and I think I'm being generous...

and, sorry, I think Sabotage is the first BS bad album, I know some people disagree but that won't change my opinion...

so to give my rates on all Ozzy's Sabbath :
Sabotage 60/100
Technical Ectasy 50/100
Never Say Die 45/100
(not bad but kind of average or below average)
