band is named edguy: Because according to Tobias, one annoying girl in high school thought his name was Ed and that they had a band. Apparantly, she never got his name correct and would go around telling people that there goes that ed guy with his band.
Dunno, but i guess they got a kcik out of it and used it to name the band.
Dumb story, be I believe that to be the actual truth and knowing these guys characters im sure it is. Especially after seeing Tobias personanlity on the DVD.

I heard a story that Edguy was a nickname for a teacher in their school.

Yeah, I believe the correct story is it was a joke nickname about a teacher. I've heard that countless interviews

Don't know where you heard this story about him being called that by a girl - but I think it's a better story
