Haven't been able to find detailed reviews of this album on the net so far. Is it that this hasn't been released in certain areas of the globe or is it a limited edition? If anyone has listened to it, would like to know how it is. Thanks in advance

Haven't been able to find detailed reviews of this album on the net so far. Is it that this hasn't been released in certain areas of the globe or is it a limited edition? If anyone has listened to it, would like to know how it is. Thanks in advance

I'm refusing to buy it for full price. I'll get it for completeness sake if I see it going for about £7 second hand. Maiden are getting too lazy. :( |

Maiden is one of the few bands which can get away with as many live albums as they do. There is most certainly no lack of talent and material. Bruce Dickinson is louder than the rest of the band. One of the guitar players appears very quiet, only coming into play when he is soloing. Bruce's vocals shadows the guitar on a few occasions. Rainmaker would be an apt example. This probably will not perturb some of the fans who think Maiden are all about the vocals, and some others might not take notice of it, but fortunately or unfortunately, I noticed it, and it upset me there. It is a bit surprising and refreshing to find Lord Of The Flies on the setlist. What felt funny was that I got the impression that Bruce was trying to imitate Blaze Bayley on some parts of the song. A vast majority of Maiden fans generally refuse to even acknowledge the time when Blaze was with the band. Quite a few have actually gone a step further by saying that his voice had no range and things of the like, which I find as profoundly unjust. So I find it quite apt to listen to Bruce deliberately change his voice to sound like Blaze on some occasions. You might want to say that it is because they are someone else's songs. But, if you observe, he sang Blaze's songs in his own way on Rock In Rio. The intro to Wildest Dreams, Paschendale, Dance of Death, etc make the listening quite appealing. Journeyman never really got the amount of acknowledgement it deserved. It has been played brilliantly, and is a lot better than the studio version. The sound quality is good, although an intense listening session makes way for one to believe that there has been more than just some editing. Bruce'speeches have clearly been cut short and the volume of the audience is distinctly louder than at other times. Overall, this is a good release even though the added value is evidently low. Lastly, the artwork reminds me a lot of King Diamond. They really don't need to make it look this way. I'd prefer the older artwork. |

Maiden officially wins the award for most live albums ever. Maiden's one of my favorite bands, but I'm through buying these damn things. I loved Dance of Death and am eagerly anticipating a new studio release, not the umpteenth live compilation. Strange how the whole money whore conversation never comes up with Maiden. |

I posted a vote topic about this a while back.. turns out Maiden would have a long ways to go until they unseat Kiss, Ozzy or even the Crue who no longer put out new (good) material as money grubbing has-been whores. Also, there might be fans who were on that tour that want a recording of it. I don't think it's really meant for the fans who already own 15+ Maiden CDs. Witness bands like the Pixies who will sell you a CD of the concert you just attented at the venue - now there's a lot of buying to do for some hardcore fan! |
