I posted it here because I guess most answers will be from these genres..

What do you think is the highest note hit in metal? I don't know shit about octaves and such stuff so I might be wrong , but I'm quite sure that Daniel Heiman's wail about halfway through Lost Horizon - Highlander (The One) is the highest i've heard. The second highest might be from Domine - True Believer. A few mindboggling screams in that song.

Vocally or musically?

Vocally, some power metal crap, musically, didn't Hawkwind use one of those electronic things that can make people vomit if you turn it up very high?

I think it was only during live shows, when everyone was on acid, so some intersting shit happened!

I can't believe it'd be on their albums as well...anyone know?

I don't remember any particular songs but mr. Defeis from Virgin Steele should at least be mentioned here.

Defeis can hit high notes, but no where near Heiman. And he sings quiet on Virgin Steele's newer stuff.

And yes to December Flower, Highlander has the highest note I have ever heard. Daniel Heiman is inhuman.

Yeah, probably The Highlander. Although, while I do think Lost Horizon are good, I think they're a bit overrated by you guys.

Fleurety's first two demos have the highest, most insane shrieks I've ever heard.

For clean vocals, in Pain of Salvation - Nightmist he descends into this one line at like 4:30 from a scream that scrapes the upper registers of awesome. There are probably higher, but that one get's up there. And towards the end of Sanies by Star of Ash, when Ihriel is at the end of her wordless vocal mini-solo, she gets pretty fucking up there as well.

Surely, King Diamond. He has produced some ridiculously high notes.

I'm pretty sure Mark Osegueda beats Daniel Heiman in "Kill as One" by Death Angel.

I forgot the dude in Anacrusis. He lets out some shrieks on the first album that make my throat cry. Terrible, tortured things, sounds like some horrible alien creature. Pretty awesome

Morby from Domine wouldn't be far away. Either at the end of Hurricane Master or a song I can't really remember from the previous album. He went fuckin' ultrasonic anyway.

Liquid Tension Experiment... their singer sings so high that only the dogs can hear him...

and seriously, I think King Diamond and/or Rob Halford (both gay ! ) can sing higher than anybody else !

Yeah thats what I was gonna say. Thats probably the highest note I've ever heard sung by a metal artist.
