Was just wondering how come there are no reviews for Danzig on this site. I'm no fan of the guy. I have How The Gods Kill and i'd say half the album is good. Have listened to Blackaciddevil and like that more than HTGK even though it had a lot of industrial influences. Although i feel the guy can't sing very well, he sure can scream and has a strong masculine voice. Pretty good. Any of his albums recommended?

Circle of Snakes is pretty shit though. :?

Danzig sucks. I'll never see the fascination people have with his crappy voice and/or music.

To each his own, but I like Danzig's voice. In fact that's one of the reasons why i would listen to his stuff.

Danzig's voice took a long while for me to warm to, partly because the production on Misfits stuff is uniformly shocking. His solo stuff is very, very inconsitent.

Danzig proves that you don't have to be wailing vocals and octopus arms drumming to be heavy. His music id deep, dark, and as one review put it once "sexual with a smirk". Yeah, his stuff is inconsistent, and that can either be good or bad. Good because it keeps the fan like me interested. Bad because it disappoints fans like me when an awesome album like I Luciferi is followed up by a very below standard album like Circle of Snakes.

To rank Danzig's albums from best to worst I put;
1. 4
2. I Luciferi
3. Lucifuge
4. Danzig
5. How the Gods Kill
6. Blackacidevil (I hated this for years but warmed to it)
7. Satan's Child (Some very good tracks on this but an overall dull album)
8. Circle of Snakes (Two or three good tracks, the rest is heavy for heavy's sake dullness)

Indeed, that one is my favorite as well. The atmosphere is perfectly haunting and eerie. Sadistikal sounds like a trip through Hell, and I like Stalker Song more than I probably should. About Circle of Snakes, is it worth getting if you're a huge Danzig fan?

I suppose it is. But the production is so muddy that you can hardly hear him over the guitars. It has the same vibe as Satan's Child. 1000 Devils Reign, Black Angel White Angel, and the title track are pretty good. I was just very disappointed that he had finally returned to form with I Luciferi and was excited about the follow up - which seems to be a huge step backwards.

Anyone heard his Samhain stuff? Now THAT is cool!

There is a video online where Danzig gets laid out with one punch by the singer of some shitty band called North Side Kings. Alot of you have probably already seen this video, its pretty funny.

Whahaha, I wish there was video of that!

If anyone has yet to see the comedic masterpiece that is Danzig getting knocked the fuck out by a fat poser, here is the link:

I actually like Danzig, but the fact that he is always made out to be such a badass made this video hysterical.

"Two hits, me hittin' you, you hittin' the floor"

Quoth "Sporto", from the Breakfast Club... a guilty pleasure, to be sure.
That movie has some great lines, and when that movie came out I was wildly attracted to Molly Ringwald... redheads always turned me on.

Danzigs solo stuff is inconsistent, but Samhain and to a slightly lesser degree, The Misfits, rules.
Saw Samhain in '85 or '86, can't really remember the year in Santa Cruz, CA.
If you like Misfits or Samhain, check out The Crimson Ghosts, or Shadow Reichenstein... some good Horrorpunk.

The best part is it doesn't even look like he connects well. Either its at a deceptive angle or Danzig is a big girl's blouse.

But don't tell him I said that. Image

I love the Misfits!! I'll have to give the Crimson Ghosts and Shadow Reichenstein a try. Thanks for the info.

Danzig is one of my guilty pleasures... he's really over-the-top cheesy, but for some reason I can't stop listening to him. I keep finding his albums in the bargain bin at record shops, and I can't help buying them.

I agree with the description wanksalot gave- dark and "sexual with a smirk". It's good music if you just want some dark blues to listen to. As for Circle of Snakes, I downloaded it because I really liked "1000 Devils Reign"... the rest of the album is OK, but if you see it for cheap it may be worth a purchase for that song alone.
