I was thinking about this yesterday. What are some covers you'd like your favorite bands to release on cd?

My thoughts:

1. Iced Earth covering Rainbow's Stargazer.
With Jon's infatuation with orchestras' these days this would fit perfectly as a bonus song on his new CD. Plus, Ripper has said in Interviews that his favorite singer is Ronnie James Dio. Man, this would sound awesome. I can totally picture Ripper screaming, "I'm coming hooooome"!

2. Nevermore covering Ozzy's I just Want You.
Okay, I know what your thinking. I Just Want You is way too overproduced and not heavy enough, and your right. Ozzy ruined that song, which was too bad because the lyrics are sweet. I Just Want You needs powerful, crunchy guitars, which Nevermore can easily provide, and I know that Warrel Dane can do this song justice.

Any thoughts on my selections? Post your own suggestions as well.

children of bodom covering the trooper

that would be most cool, with all the keyboards, and the "oooooh" chorus would be screams.

Avril Lavigne covering System Of A Down. That would just work so well!

Blind Guardian feat. any metal chick with a non-opera voice covering, in a beautifully orchestrated power metal version, Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart (originally featuring Meat Loaf)

or

some of the gay-est PM bands packed together for a cheesy All We Need I s Love version with a male gangbang video including the whole lot of them... that would be freaking funny !

btw Z, Avril indeed did a lousy acoustic cover of SOAD's Chop Suey but don't waste your time looking for it, it's crap anyway (like everything she did actually)

Meshuggah covering Playing the Game by Gentle Giant.

Yep, definately too much death metal! :D

Can't think of any covers I'd like to see at present, will edit this later if I do.

I wonder how it would be if Masterplan or Jorn did a cover of Black Sabbath - Falling off the Edge of the World.

Or if Symphony X covered Dream Theater - A Fortune in Lies, or Deep Purple - Lay Down Stay Down

Edguy doing Deep Purple - Burn would be cool to see how it ended

And perhaps Heimann singing on Manowar - Metal Daze

And the list goes ever on... :P

The Fuel cover was a real cover, she did that on the MTV Icon show. She seemed petrified up there. The System Of A Down cover wasn't really a cover, it was just some impromptu live ditty that a lot of bands do. And yes, it sucked.
