Four songs in .. good stuff. Almost has a Ennio Morricone (eastwood western phase) feel to it in places. EDIT .. nearly done .. music is great, but the weak point is the singing. There is some truly bad singing on this disc, nowhere more obvious than on 'Last Breath'. Please people .. can you not do multiple takes until you at least hit the proper note? The singing is the worst I have heard since Folkearth. EDIT .. metal archives has lambasted this disc .. I disagree with the complaints. I think the slower moments are some of the best. EDIT .. overall kind of amateurish. Sigh. Needs some proper arrangement and more studio work. |

I love this record, one of my favorite this year. ![]() Didn't like it much on first listen though. For sure, it is slowest album Ensiferum made so far, probably the main reason it gets so much bashing from the fans. Together with Victory Songs this is probably their weakest, but not a single weak track can be found here and variety of material keeps it from getting boring. |

Heard it multiple times, didn't like it. Some songs grew over time but none of them are Ensiferum-worthy I think. It's not the fact that they're slower that bothers me, it's just that it all sounds so tame and halfassed. And it's such a frustrating album. On nearly every song there's a moment brilliance and then they do absolutely nothing with it. I was and still am incredibly disappointed. I'd love to review it at one point. |
