Post subject:  Good Retro Metal in 2012

I think I make one of these every year I don't see why 2012 should be an exception, because I do enjoy the metal of my youth and don't see what is wrong with it being recreated in the present.

So, what, in your opinion, are the good retro metal albums of 2012?

I do enjoy RAM's Death and, evidently, the new Accept kicks a lot of asses (though I'm not sure if they're retro or just old).

The newest 3 Inches of Blood is pretty damn retro.

The new Corrosion Of Conformity is pretty bad-ass.

And the Trixter album is excellent. Seriously. :D

Slough Feg is and always will be the king of anything considered to be retro metal.

Though my comment is true, it's a very good album, I was totally being sarcastic by posting that.

I really like that Sinister Realm album too. I've been getting into a lot of retro 70's hard rock bands (I hate the term 'Stoner Metal') so I thought I would mention a band named Blood of the Sun. If you like classic Deep Purple then BOTS is for you.

Borrowed Time is an excellent old school heavy metal band. I used to be in it when we initially formed but my brother has taken over for me. They have opened for a shitload of legendary acts like Accept, Raven, Virgin Steele, etc.

They just got done playing the Ragnarokkr Festival in Ohio and will be playing the Keep it True festival next year. Check them out. Very high quality heavy metal.

Talking about retro-metal, can we expect anything new from Harbinger in the near future?
You know I really enjoyed your debut album, I'm looking forward to a new one.
Also, where can I find Borrowed Time's ep?

Harbinger essentially broke up in early 2010. I don't think you can expect another album. That being said, Borrowed Time is the spiritual successor of Harbinger. When the band was first formed, myself and Harbinger's drummer Sean were in Borrowed Time. We've both had to quit for various reasons, but my place was taken by my brother Victor, who was also on guitar for Harbinger and is still in Sauron. So, Borrowed Time had and will continue to have many of the same elements as Harbinger. Victor wrote many of the riffs in Harbinger so the songs in Borrowed Time will sound similar.

As far as getting a copy of the EP, I believe a distro in Ireland still has both the demo and the EP. It's called Saarlac Productions. If they don't have it then you can probably get one from Victor. If you message the Borrowed Time FB page one of them will surely have a copy.
