Official video for first single Storytime is out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g8ykQLYnX0

So far, so good. The movie section of it I sadly think will be rather naff, despite them clearly working very hard on it - happy to wait and see, though. Quite pleased with the music, however, they've not toned down the metal aspects and Annete sounds fantastic. Orchestral bits sounding good, too. Looking forward very much to the album.

Loving the song. By the way, the video is the radio edit version. If you search YouTube you'll find the full length song.

I'm also not totally convinced the movie will be great but I'll definitely watch it.

*searches* 5:38 version? Even better. And of course I'll be watching the movie, despite my pessimism... I wish the band all the best with it.

Cheesy video but the song is very good. By the way what is Annette supposed to be anyway the witch from snow white or something?

Parts of it remind me of Bye Bye Beautiful. Amaranth too somehow. Like a mix between the two. Solid song but it doesn't blow me away or anything. My favorite Nightwish songs are usually the epics so I'm not worried.

It's got a tiny bit of old school NW too, which is a nice touch.

Catchy chorus. That's enough to get me somewhat interested. But as for the movie, I'm bracing myself for a turdfest to be honest.

Killer song... too bad the vocals suck. Tarja would've been perfect for this.

It took me a long time to warm up to Anette and 'Dark Passion Play' but I must admit that this song is strong. Very impressive. The symphony section in the middle sounded absolutely HUGE. 'Imaginarium' may very well live up to all the hype...I'm looking forward to it.

No, really, no. I can't believe some people are STILL insisting that the band declined without Tarja.

I`m in the middle here. I don`t think Annete sucks ( :D ), at least not on studio recordings, I have no problem listening to them. BUT the fact is Tarja is a better singer without a doubt. I am not whining, I bashed DPP when it came out becauose I thought the majority of songs were boring, but after a year I gave it another chance and I loved it, especially the second half with all those longer tracks.
I doubt this record will be any weaker.

I think Anette's voice is boring and annoying.

DPP is my least favorite Nightwish CD, and I don't even listen to it anymore.

Yeah figures that someone would say that with Tarja in his avatar.

It's my favourite (or maybe tied with Century Child as my favourite) Nightwish CD and I still listen to it four years later.

[controversial]

I think Annette's voice is better than Tarja's. Has more emotion and colour than that cold, monochrome operatic trill.

[/controversial]

Admittedly haven't listened to any Tarja-era Nightwish in a while, however...

Exactly. Tarja bores me to death.

I know I've said this many times before, but I prefer her version of Come Cover Me over the original.

But they're both great singers as far as I'm concerned.

If anyone's interested, samples are up for all tracks:

http://soundcloud.com/nightwishband/sets/imaginaerum/

As usual, I'm waiting 'til I get the album.

Hmmmm, too hard to tell with those 30 sec samples....but they certainly have me interested...I too wonder how this could have sounded with Tarja there instead of Anette
