I`ve listened to it 13 times in the last week or so, and I believe this is the strongest I.E. record since the original Something Wicked from 1998. I pesonally found The Horror Show and The Crucible of Man to be the weakest I.E. albums ( couple of geat songs but overall bland ). The Glorious Burden and Framing Armageddon are alright ( I`m a big Owens fan BTW ). But I find almost every track on Dystopia to be very strong or at least good ( except one but I can let it pass ).. I will rate it a strong 80. What say you... |

First listen, it probably needs more, but: 1. Dystopia: already said I don't like that one. 2. Anthem: I actually like it better than on first listen. 3. Boiling Point: fairly good headbang material. 4. Anguish of Youth: I just can't stand the lyrics. 5. V: dull. 6. Dark City: Reminds me I need to see the movie. Thanks IE. The song sounds OK, needs a few more listens. The second part (instru) is nice. 7. Equilibrium: Meh. Powerful and weak at the same time. 8. Days of Rage: LOL, as mentioned in the other thread. 9. End of Innocence: Boring and uninspired. 10. Tragedy and Triumph: Nah, just "Tragedy". It's almost pop-metal at times, I dislike that trend. Overall: average album. I hope it's a grower, but I hardly think so. |

Nowhere near as bad as I imagined it to be, Stu block's vocals suck ass and the riffing is flaccid but Dark City and Boiling point have some good moments. The main turn off is actually the drum tone for me fellas it just sounds choppy, the riffing is pretty much what you would expect from the band. 5/10 |

Equilibrium is a good song as well the melodies in the middle of the song remind me of In flames non-homosexual stuff, and Days of rage is a mean song. The album is a grower what can I say, the only track that made me truly cringe was End of innocence. What a godawful ballad. |

9. End of Innocence: Boring and uninspired. I totally agree with you on that one but Dystopia and Tragedy and Triumph are strongest points of this album with Boiling Point and Dark City. At least for me. |

Just picked it up and giving it the first spin. Already I can say it has me more interested than anything since Horror Show. |

Some of you really need to never procreate. I'm sure you do enough of that with Stefan and Devotedwalnut. |

Tragedy & Triumph is growing on me. I'm pregnant with a catchy song. Hmm. |

And now Dystopia is growing on me too. I've always wanted to have twins. This album is acceptable. 75. |

When I read that Stu Block was the new singer I was really keen to hear this as I really enjoy what he brings to Into Eternity, but isn't he's just trying to sound too much like Barlow ? |

I agree that he`s trying to emulate Barlow`s voice a little too much. |

I agree that he`s trying to emulate Barlow`s voice a little too much. He's singing in a mid-range, which fits the music, and doesn't sound like Barlow regardless. I assume he's also trying to emulate Owens, too, right? |

Yes, you`re right, in some songs he does sound like Owens too. Stu never sounded like this before, singing mid range or screaming. |
