YOU GUYS ARE ALL FUCKING IDIOTS

No, not really, but this album is the shit. I think it's their most consistent in terms of quality...damn it's so good. WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE

Hopefully we can all agree that it has some of the best sounding drums of all time. Seriously, toss this on with some headphones...orgasm

Tried album for a second time on youtube then found this article and started listening to these songs:

Edit: I ultimately disagreed with the choices on that list. However, enjoyed it more than the new Masty.

I haven't listened to it yet. I'm not gonna discount it at all, and I loved Crack The Skye, but I still really really wish they went back to their sludgier sound. Deathbound sounds awesome. I want more of that.

Planning to listen to it within the next few weeks or so. I've heard Deathbound and Curl of the Burl and I enjoyed both. I couldn't get Curl of the Burl out of my head for the next couple of days!

I checked it.
It's lame, not that anything by Mastodon was any good in the first place. Actually, shitty as it is, it still is the best thing I heard from them, reminded me of Clutch at times.
Well, better stick with the original.
No sir, Mastodon is not for me but I'm happy (fo you) you enjoyed it.

Deathbound ain't on the new album. It was a b-side from the Crack The Skye sessions.

Really? No idea why I thought it was on the album.

Nah nah, that's Blood Mountain. No idea what they were trying to do with that but it was fucking awful.

I agree although Colony of Birchmen is a nice little song I think.

?? Blood Mountain is fucking awesome. I would say it's at least as good as Crack the Skye. Nothing tops Remission and Leviathan though.

Nah man, I really didn't like it. Loved Crack the Skye, but as with just about everyone thing the earlier stuff's the best.

I'm still really loving this. I think Blood Mountain is def Masty's weakest album, although it's still really good. I actually think The Hunter is closest to Blood Mountain in spirit, sound, song structures, etc. but just has all around better riffs and way better vocals.

Baffled by people who are so down on this, especially if you're a fan of their previous stuff...

Mastodon is getting closer to Nickelback with every album.

People are going absolutely apeshit about this band, and it never seizes to amaze me. This band is completely average, and so is this album. Give me a break.

I dunno. To me, there are very, very, very, very few bands making interesting metal nowadays that isn't "dark" atmospherically/in terms of mood, and Mastodon is one of them. There isn't any other band that really sounds like them, and the bands that do have similarities (Baroness, Kylesa, etc.) came after them. In conclusion, no.
