Coming from someone who has met and conversed with Derek Roddy a few times and finds him to be a top 3, maybe the best drummer alive, I was really pulling for him. But to be honest, with the entirety of his career surrounding DM (blast beats, rapid bass drumming, minimal progression in respect to the level of DT) I found him to be somewhat of a difficult fit, as with Marco Minneman. There's no doubt these guys have the chops to keep up with it, but do you think their background effected the choices at hand?

I think they made the right choice. They want the best of the best, and Mangini has won numerous awards for his speed and technical abilities. I also think his style fits Dream Theater's older sound, which gets me hopeful for another Images an...
