This album is really fucking good and no one is talking about it.

If you like King Crimson, Yes, even DT or BTBAM, you should really check this album out. It's just really great prog rock with maybe dashes of metal but not really. This is not normally my cup of tea but I've had it on play all week while writing papers.

Is it closer to Dream Theater, or Marillion?

It's fucking prog rock, guy. I don't know Marillion. Just check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dntsfq4n8GU

The whole album minus the two minute interlude-y track:

Ahh, so it's LTE lite mixed with Bruford's solo records from the late 70's. The organ sounds like Lana Lane (erik norlander) or maybe jon lord.

This sounds classy.

One more question: is half the material inexcusably bad like on damn near every yes record?

Edit: the second song is a little more rockin. I notice the guy triple tracks his vocals in places in the same octave. That sounds great on records, but doesn't work too well live.

Are they good live?

Second Edit:

After briefly hearing a couple more tracks, it almost has a Zakk Wylde vibe on the guitars, maybe a touch slower than he plays, which is much more soulful.

I'm getting the subtle taste of licorice, with maybe a hint of vanilla. Hmm...ahh the after taste, has a slight suggestion of old spice after shave. Good stuff.

Love these cats. I have the Sleeping In Traffic albums, Destined Solitaire, and Mammoth. All four are fantastic.

Is their earlier stuff comparable to Mammoth?

Generally, yeah. I'd say the latest two are a bit heavier, though. The title track from Destined Solitaire has fucking death-metal vocals at one point! It works, though.
