After debuting some judas priest. James durbin has survived the "pop" cultivated show to the final 8. He recently attempted to perform sammy hagars version of the title track heavy metal from the old school movie Heavy Metal. I admire his courage and it is good to see this type of old school metal/rock out to the masses. It was performed with Zakk Wylde playing guitar. I enjoyed it myself. Though I enjoy various forms of music, metal still has that place in my heart over all other forms when it comes down to it. I am glad to see a song like this was performed on a such a show. In reality, this season has many great styles of artists from jazz, rock/alt, heavy metal, country, country-pop, R & B, 70s rock, and yes even gospel. It is great to see art and styles influencing this show.
