Oh dear. I really like Frank Sinatra and don't think Devin or any of those other metal/rock guys would do him justice. Shame the samples won't play on my computer. I think there's somethings Metal guys should stay away. Robbie Williams on the other hand did a great job with covering the old classics with Live At The Albert. ![]() |

Devin sounds allright, but Dee Snider not so much. Sounds like a fun project, but I'm wondering what sort of repeat listening it would garner? |

Speedyjx wrote: Not sure if trolling... Not trolling at all. That Robbie Williams DVD is one of the best music DVD's I've seen (actually my favourite after Iron Maiden's Live After Death). He really captures the vibe of the music and of that era. He understands it quite well. That period of music had a lot of style and was really classy. Metal is a bit uncouth and too working class in vibe. Hence I doubt Metal musicians could give that big band Rat Pack era the justice it's due. Basically I think Frank is spinning in his grave on this one. |

Devin doesn't work here. Can't quite cut it. It's as if Amy Winehouse tried singing Etta James tunes. |

So is it just me or has Devin's voice sounded ridiculously good since Ki? I knew he was a good singer before but jeez. |

Yeah, agreed! Surprised so many are down on this, thought it was great. As for dead1's Robbie fixation, when he doesn't care about Floyd... ![]() |

![]() You should be more open minded. Maybe it's time for a Robbie Williams review. ![]() Though on a serious note, Robbie nailed the old school perfectly. Frank, Dean and the rest of the boys from that era would've approved. Doubt they'd care much for a bunch of unwashed heathens thrashing their sound. |

![]() How was life before you discovered Floyd? Was it ok? Did you hate yourself, or generally think you were OK? Were you a happy person? |

Devy has an amazing voice and is a talented musician, not exactly a heathen considering how he produces all of his own and countless other albums. It's just really odd that you self-recognize metal as uncouth the way the mainstream does when it generally is pretty complex. I know there is some ignorant shit out there but Devy is not it.
If Danzig actually had somebody pushing his performance to be good, he would've been cool to hear on this. Metal has a lot of cool croons I would've liked to hear doing some Sinatra. |

Dude, it's uncouth. So what? Metal's not some sort of misunderstood art or high minded social . It's for the most part mindless aggression condensed into music. It may be technical and the guys that play it well are excellent musicians but it's still rough and lacking in the kind of "upper" class vibe that the old stuff has. The Rat Pack oozed cool, metal oozes blood and sweat. Nothing wrong with that. I like Heavy Metal for what it is - it's violent, it's ugly, it's aggressive and it's over the top. |

There is a difference between Devy and Pantera. |
