Songwriting hasn't returned to the days of yore, but I like the "new" production direction. Sounds a bit more dirty and muscular like the old stuff. Not bad, but then again not awesome either.

I can't really stand Bruce anymore.

he can still nail it live, but I don't like the way he sounds on this song. The music itself was pretty cool though.

Bruce doesn't have it anymore.

Of course he does. It's Bruce Dickinson, stop being silly.

There is nothing wrong with his voice, you girl. Really can't understand what you're on about.

What????? Now, I can't wait to listen to it. Too bad I can't do it in office. Will go home and download and listen to it. Let me see if there's anything different in the vocals.

While I'm glad they're trying something a bit different I'm not too crazy about the song itself. It did sound better on the second listen so maybe there's something there.

That intro reminded me a little of Wasted Years, for some reason.

Overall, this is a pretty good song. It's upbeat, it has a nice guitar solo in the middle, and on the whole it basically sounds like a modern Iron Maiden song should. I do, however, find Bruce's vocals a little odd. He seems to be singing at a lower pitch than usual, and he sounds a bit more cynical/sarcastic than on previous Iron Maiden records. In fact, he sounds more like he does with his solo work than with Iron Maiden.

Looking forward to the new album. On a sidenote, am I the only one who thinks Iron Maiden should do an album with Eb tuning someday?

he really doesn't sound all that different from AMOLAD, but I felt ever since he re-joined Maiden he just hasn't had the same oomph he had in the 80s and 90s. I know it's because of age, and it happens to all singers. But some guys, Lemmy/Halford/Mustaine can get old and have their voice change but still sound decent where Bruce's voice is a little un-listenable for me.

I know I'm probably going to get MR gang raped for saying this, but this is truly what I think.

Stop making albums and just tour. There's nothing really going on here with that song.

Oh well, your entitled to your own opinions. Since I am a huge fan of Bruce and Maiden, I still love 'em. Yes, Bruce's vocals don't have that punch as they did earlier, but I still love it. As for the song, I just listened to it and I am disappointed. Surprisingly, Bruce, in certain parts doesn't sound natural. It's like he's trying to sound mean. Something really wrong with the way he's singing it. I just hope this is the weakest song on the album. I know I will pick up the album when it's out cos I'm a Maiden fanboy.

The first time I listened to it I was a bit "meh" about it as well. Something about Bruce's vocals during the verse and the lack of overall structure and the unremarkable verse riff.

Upon listening to it again, however, I realized during the chorus that none of this mattered, because this was fucking Maiden with Air-Siren Dickinson and no matter how meh it might seem, it never truly is.
That chorus is pretty awesome.

Good point. He's definitely trying something a bit different, for better or worse.

So that's why I find his vocals a bit odd. I hadn't notice Seinfeld26 type that. Maybe he is trying something different. Maybe it needs a bit getting used to. Actually, that song is playing in my mind and I haven't even listened to it a second time. That's a good thing :)
