Soooooooooooooo, what are your thoughts on this upcoming album? Do you think Ozzy will be able to redeem himself after the dismal Black Rain, or is it time for the Ozzman to finally retire? Here's the album's Wikipedia stub: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scream_(Oz ... urne_album) And here's the album's title track: http://redirectingat.com/?id=673X542464 ... t3152.html |

Despite being a bit corny the new song was not that bad. Could be a decent album but noone should be hoping for something comparable to the classics. |

Thank God he decided not to name it Soul Sucka. This is definitely not on my "To buy" list, but would prefer to read a few reviews and comments before I decide . |

Not a bad song. Gus G doesn't sound out of place, something I was afraid might happen. |

As for me, I like the new song. It definitely sounds a lot heavier than anything on Black Rain. And I think that, given the proper musicians and producers, this may actually be Ozzy's best album since Down To Earth. |

I think I'll pass on this one... Ozzy has never been my favorite artist, I've always found his music fairly boring. |

I liked Black Rain, mainly because it was a Black Label Society album. Haha. I think Zakk being "fired" was a good thing, because he clearly wasn't in a songwriting mode that was geared toward Ozzy when he wrote that album. As for this new album, wasn't it mostly written before Gus G came aboard? |

Ozzy is nothing without Sabbath. He hasn't put out a truly great album since Blizzard and even that had filler. |

There's a video on Rolling Stone where it shows the recording of the album. There was one song I heard a clip of on that video that actually sounded like it might be good. The rest.....megh. It's a fading Ozzy....who was never that good to begin with. This seems like an appropriate place to mention how much better Dio was than Ozzy. |

It depends on if the guy they get to sing the songs previous to Ozzy singing over the top of them is any good. It doesn't matter if it is any good, which frankly means they will put as little effort in to it as possible. His name will sell the record, so they don't care about songs in that band. |

Yeah Ozzy is shit. Ozzy has made a career by standing on the shoulders of giants. Iommi, Rhodes, Lee, etc. All of these guys were absolutely magnificent guitar players and kept ozzy from sucking. Once he started playing with guitarists who worshipped him and didnt have the balls to conduct any sort of quality control the music began to suffer. Zak Wylde, while being a great guitar player, deferred to Ozzy way too much, and then when he finally did start speaking up, it came out sounding like a Black Label Society album....which is no good. Gus G. is getting a huge paycheck, and will play whatever he is told. Long gone are the days of Ozzy being able to take credit for other people's brilliance. He's steering the ship now, and has been for many years, which is why that ship has been sinking for the last two decades. |

And by Ozzy steering the ship you mean Sharon, right? Because Ozzy is in no condition to even begin to attempt to steer anything. |

Exactly, with the amendment added. Sharon's father RAN A FUCKING RECORD COMPANY. Obviously she made Ozzy Osbourne into one of the most "acceptable" performers from that perspective if you all get my drift. But just in case, that means his work is designed to sell copies. End of story. His limitations as a musician and lack of any positive or acceptable image in the 80's simply prohibited him from being a pop artist. They had to compromise this by appealing to Black Sabbath fans and whatever mainstream metal fad is going on at the time. Of course it is all by Sharon's design based on industry knowledge. And by the way Ozzy Osbourne has always been given a massive push by his label. Whatever treatment Madonna and Prince got, so did he. In other words, if he released an album on Sanctuary Records or something and avoided the radio as much as anyone on that type of label, it wouldn't sell dick either because the usual fan wouldn't know it was released. Ozzy Osbourne might as well buy Concrete Corner (or whatever equivalent) since they were working for him. My favourite record store still has piles of promotional material left over since the place opened. Anyway, that's enough of the backstage bullshit. Ozzy has ridden the coattails of everyone he worked with. I mentioned earlier he does not even act as the vocalist in his band, but actually (and I do mean this literally) he is a karaoke singer. Mike Portnoy has the version of "No More Tears"with the producer actually singing the songs. Sharon can go fuck herself. Black Sabbath, and yes, the most consistently cohesive form of it has to call itself something else. This is more bullshit. Sharon probably had Black Sabbath, Inc. (every band has a version of the band with the inc. after the band name. For example, Megadeth, Inc. consists of Dave Mustaine only. You figure it out.) reorganized to include Ozzy, Hell, Tony is probably not aware that this was even conditional at all, so now Sharon and Ozzy get to claim until they relinquish any such ability that only Ozzy is Black Sabbath, conveniently forgetting the 20 years he was not in the band. It gets even worse. It could have been really special if Dio's last show was a member of the official version of Black Sabbath. |
