Hmmm... That doesn't really help much for suggestions, I'll be honest. Haha. Seems like you're more into the heavy side of power metal. Check out these videos and see what you think:

These are some of the most famous power metal bands, and there's multiple styles here... hope you dig.

If you like Iced Earth a natural progression would be to Demons & Wizards (Iced Earth/Blind Guardian side project) followed by Blind Guardian.

I'll add Nevermore (older)

newer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=impRqn44OCA

Virgin Steele

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bk3bItYz ... re=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HZtMD4I ... re=related

And if you tell us what you like out of what has been suggested we can be more specific to the type of power metal you like.

I forgot Rage. Rage are mandatory and have about fifty eighteen? albums with varying sounds, so checking them out is mandatory. Mandatory. Yes.

Yeah, them too.

Might as well include Gravedigger and Running Wild. Although, I'm not as familiar with them.

I'll back up that Gravedigger recommendation. Check out Reingold or Excalibur, my favorite albums of theirs.

Ditto on the Rage as well. Check out the Perfect Man and Soundchaser albums, and hell, look into their newest, Strings To A Web, as well.

The Trouble with most of those bands is that a lot of them, especially Rage and Running Wild, have extremely inconsistent catalogues. I can say this for sure, you should get any of the Tad Morose albums with Urban Breed singing as they are all heavy and awesome.

I know. I own Excalibur, and love it. I just haven't gone past that. I've been on a Rage kick lately too. I'll get to Running Wild eventually.

It wouldn't be so bad if there was an element of aggression to power metal. From some of the band's I've heard it's the exact opposite, do you guys have any recommendations for an abrasive sounding power metal band?

I just realized you listed Control Denied. You should check out Spiral Architect. http://www.myspace.com/unofficialspiralarchitect Amazing prog, extremely technical and they can be very melodic too.

Spiral Architect are awesome :dio:.

No mention of Pyramaze or Tad Morose yet? They're worth a look.

Vision Divine, Morifade and Dungeon. That is where I started and it is still my favourite stuff.
