I was surprised when I walked into the music store. I saw stuff that I never thought would be available. For a place where stuff like Motorhead is not available, to see these cds here was surprising. Not willing to take the risk of picking them later, I picked up a few.

Iced Earth - Night Of The Stormrider. My first IE album. This was the album that was recommended by a few on this website. I also see the Self Titled and Something Wicked albums. How are those two?

The other cds I picked up are

Black Sabbath - Dehumanizer. I had this on tape, gave it to someone who disappeared with it. Downloaded it just cos I love this album. You can only imagine my glee when I saw the cd. Picked it up without a second thought.

Dokken - Greatest Hits - I liked a couple of tracks from these guys and thought I would check this album out.

Candlebox - Greatest Hits - Same. Liked a couple of tracks, so picked it up.

Firewind - Live- I understand they are melodic metal. I haven't heard a track by these guys, but the word "Melodic" is reason enough for me to pick this up. I have read positive things about these guys, so decided to check them out.

Disturbed - Indestructible - I didn't like the review on this site, but I figured out what this album could be. I listened to it and it wasn't too bad.

Duran Duran - Greatest Hits- Yeah, they're not metal. But I liked these guys in the 80s before I became a metal head. Besides, I like 80s pop. :)

Apart from Duran Duran, Sabbath and Disturbed, I am yet to listen to the other discs. Might take me a week or two since I will be busy. Going by what I picked up, any more recommendations? I may not be able to buy it now, but maybe 2-3 months down the line.

More Iced Earth, Something Wicked is pretty good. Now I'm off to weep in the corner because you didn't like my Disturbed review.

I'm still waiting for the Korn review in backwards German.

Although someone should review the first cd at least, there's some interesting stuff on there.

Don't get their self titled CD it sucks. Get Days Of Purgatory instead it has Barlow singing most of the songs from the self titled.

I think Burnt Offerings is their best album. I think we can all agree it's a must have.

Ah yes. I have seen Burnt Offerings also being mentioned as their best album. So their self titled isn't good, eh? I generally observed that I like what most people don't like. Still, I will first download and give a listen to their s/t before I decide. I will pick up Something Wicked next. Unfortunately Burnt Offerings isn't available right now. I will try requesting for it. Thanks all.

How can a band like Dokken be not available everywhere? I mean, their music and lyrics are regular hardrock stuff.

You can find Dokken and other 80's bands at Walmart still.

Dokken had three good CD's. George Lynch is/was a beast on guitar. I've always loved his tone and technique.

Check into these Dokken CD's:
1. Under Lock and Key
2. Tooth and Nail
3. Back For The Attack

Dokken without George Lynch is not the same...
Beast From the east is a good live album.

He he. There's a LOT of stuff that isn't available here. Kreator, Sodom, Motorhead, Blind Guardian, Gammay Ray, Helloween and many many more.

The Iced Earth s/t might be one of those times that you agree with the general consensus. Its not that the music is bad (great tracks such as Iced Earth and When the Night Falls came from this one), but Gene Adam is an absolutely horrid vocalist, thus his swift removal from the band.

Something Wicked is a safe bet though there are a couple of filler tracks on there (Consequences and Reaping Stone for example). I still have to go with Burnt Offerings as my favorite Iced Earth release, but also think about getting Dark Saga and Horror Show (even though alot of people will argue the quality of the latter).

All I heard of them was In My Dreams and Dream Warriors on VH1 a few years ago, but I really like those songs. They're probably the only hair metal stuff I like.

I never understood all the love for Burnt Offerings. Other then the title track and Dante's Inferno, pretty forgettable IMO. I feel that their sound and maturity was fully realized in later releases.

Picked up Something Wicked This Way Comes. Unfortunately, Burnt Offerings wasn't there. Will be able to listen to it only in a few days. I must say that the vocalist in Night Of The Stormrider is fantastic. I read somewhere that he was out cos of some racist comment he made or that he was a racist or something. Whatever. I liked his vocals very much.
