I've always been a fan of powermetal and I decided to put up a poll for your favorite powermetal band...

Iced Earth does indeed pretty much crush most of these bands. :dio:

Even here on metalreviews it is quoted as heavy metal.
Maybe somebody think i should also add Judas Priest to this category since I think judas priest as about as much powermetal as iced earth. iced earth even have priest's ex singer hooked up ;)

Judas Priest are 80% rock and about 5% power metal. They don't belong.

Out of those Helloween is the best by 100 miles.

Yeah I'd say Iced Earth isn't as much powermetal as the rest of the bands on that poll, I just meant that they shit all over those. :D
They'd fit better than Judas Priest though.

Blind Guardian, Primal Fear and Sonata Arctica are great too though. And Strato, Nightwish and Helloween has their moments. But still..

No Virgin Steele, Iced Earth, Metal Church, Jag Panzer or Agent Steel.

From the choices given i would have to go with Gamma Ray, followed closely by Helloween and Blind Guardian.

Look, if we're going to start debating on whether or not Iced Earth or Judas Priest are power metal, we can open another thread. In the meantime, Sonata Arctica pwn all the others.

Since he didn't start again I voted Blind Guardian. Even though I don't have as much interest in them as I used to, thanks to ANATO and ATITM, none of the other bands on the poll have released brilliant albums such as Imaginations or Nightfall. :)

No thanks. :D

Sure, SA has got some truly great songs, but I've yet to see them put out an entire album full of those. And no, I'm not talking about a best of.

Yes they did, it's called Ecliptica, and every single song on it is fantastic. Silence is also excellent.

I'd almost agree with you about Ecliptica, which is surely their best album, but I don't consider Kingdom For A Heart or Unopened fantastic. And even if they were as good as the rest of the album, there's still different levels of awesomeness. An album as Imaginations From The Other Side is more diverse in my opinion than Ecliptica. I think it holds up better to repeated listens, which I think is a defining factor for a truly brilliant album. :)

As for Kingdom For A Heart and UnOpened, I disagree with you. I think they're both great. But Imaginations From The Other Side has too much fill for me, I just don't hang onto every note.

For me Edguy, but I almost chose Blind Guardian just because Rocket Ride is so mundane and Twist in the myth is still pretty badass. It is Edguy for me but if Avantasia III does not kick ass and Edguy swing the direction a bit I will surely be a dissapointed fan :(

I must be the only one that likes almost a"all" of winterhearts Guild?
Why does nobody like that album as much as Ecliptica or Silence?
I prefer the catchiness of WG over Silence actually. The last album with the boat on the cover tho was dissapointing for me tho :(. I rarely even listen to it.
