Is a band in my opinion that is way under rated, I have recently moved house and I found all these Cd's that I had put away and that i havent listen to for years and I found all these ( NR ) cd's and I came across "The Sacred Tailman" first and played it start to finish and from the opener "Destiny's calling" " Ride on" and my fav "Unholy powers" till the last track "Glorious"its Great music

How come this band is not up there when people talk about great metal acts . There discography as a whole is a very good collection of great music.

I must have 5 or 6 of theirs good band I always enjoy their cds. Catchy well played metal with a great vocalist. On their last album some of the music actually reminded me a bit of COB.

One of my all time favorites man. I always make sure to bring something by them if I'm going on a road trip. The Sacred Talisman is also in my top five for all time favorite albums. I wish they would revisit that sound...

"Tales of Mystery and Imagination" is a favorite of mine

Their early albums with singer Anders Zackrisson are classic power metal at its finest. I thought the first couple of albums with Jonny Lindkvist were great too, but the later ones don't really do much for me.

They're still a great live band though, I've seen them live 7-8 times and they always get the crowd going.

I love this band. I've really only listened to them since New World Messiah. That song was amazing. Basically my real introduction to power metal as I now know it. I couldn't believe that Progressive Rock's amazing qualities were being infused with more melody, more metal and amazing songwriting prowess to boot.

Nocturnal Rites rock, but i've only enjoyed the Jonny Lindkvist era of them (Afterlife onwards). Never really liked how they sounded before then, especially didn't like the sound of the original singer.

I love the first three albums, and I like most of what they've done with Linqvist, but the last album was shockingly awful.

I'd always considered Tales of Mystery to be my favourite of theirs, but lately I think its The Sacred Talisman. That album is just brilliant from start to finish.

Oh man, I was waiting for someone to post this. All I have to say is the first 3 1/2 albums are great, with Tales of Mystery and In A Time of Blood and Fire being the best. Anything after Afterlife is, in my opinion, complete generic crap. I give NR the award for "Riding the wave to commercial success." They play their new style well, however, their new style sucks ( in my opinion).

Nocturnal Rites began life as the Swedish death metal outfit Necronomic, which released a demo tape entitled 'The Obscure' in 1991 . the band decided to return to their classic metal roots and Nocturnal Rites was born

In A Time Of Blood And Fire , contained song such as Black Death,wings of death, rest in peace , as one can guess, a death metal band originally, but with a few member changes, and a newfound love for true metal, plus improved playing abilities.

I only surf the net at work , well during work hours , its there and its free and I kinda got busted , so i had to really cut short what i was posting . Instead of closing the box it posted and posted a 1/4 of what I wanted . Anyway I kinda over it all and can't be bothered ...

You know, I'm really appauled that people don't like their last three albums as much as I do. I mean, every band has some filler, which NR do, but those albums have some phenomenal songs. I guess not everyone likes Fredrik's production style as much as me. And yes, tone, production and all that shit are just as imprtant to me as songwriting.

A terribly produced song no matter how great will always fail in my ears.

A mediocre song with outstanding production can lift it into greatness.

It's a balancing act and really I think theres an outstanding mix of both from NR lately since Nordstrom came in.

I can't really comment on the older stuff at this point, but from what I hear its the kind of stuff only true metalheads would even consider in the first place and besides that it is fairly generic fare. As if i've heard similar stuff that sounded better and what was written better.

Right, so you're "appauled" at people that don't like the last 3 albums but you're dismissing 3 albums you haven't even listened to? Take a look at yourself, buddy.

who said I didn't listen to it? To clarify: everytime I try to listen to those old albums they are not immediate at all and I simply listen to something else after a couple minutes. I have the opposite reaction to the newer stuff. I'm not of the opinion (nor do I have the patience anymore) to listen to stuff until it starts sounding good. Of course if you listen to an album enough eventually it will become a favourite unless it is intolerable. To have an immediacy that an album sounds very solid the first few times around and the 50th is something that I think the older stuff doesn't have. Naturally I'll eventually get around to giving these albums a proper listen, but honestly, the reward for being that patient seems minimal. Hope that makes more sense.

Early nocturnal Rites still gets me yelling out the window while driving! even with the mispronuctiations of my vVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVS!

+1, except that I pretty much think all their albums is generic crap.
