Being a fan of Iron Maiden, and particularly Bruce Dickinson's vocals, I'm VERY tempted to pick this album up. I heard it once and liked it (hence the Hit rating), but that was over a year ago.

So what's the overall consensus?

Nobody dare call this a miss ! ...:) It was Bruce's "comeback" album, and it's a great one indeed. After the more "grungy" Skunkworks and the more "latino" Balls To Picass (excellent albums nonetheless), this one has reestablished him as THE Metal icon he always was. Excellent songs (written by the "dynamic trio" Dickinson,Smith and Roy Z), and a vocal delivery we've been missing since Seventh Son. Some of his best work is found here: Taking the Queen, Darkside Of Aquarius, Omega and the beautiful ballad Arc Of Space. The only thing it "lacks" is a theme, a lyrical and musical cohesion, which can be found on the follow-up "Chemical Wedding". One of the best album of the nineties and surely a HIT.

Unquestionably a hit. And yes, the Magician kicks ass. :dio:

Hit, of course. Not a incredible masterpiece as The Chemical Wedding, but better than the previous ones.

Dickinson's miss is Tattooed Millionaire.

Bought the album on Amazon.com today. Should be in on Tuesday. I'll comment a little on it right after listening.

An absolute hit. Better than The Chemical Wedding, in my opinion.

It's a return to metal for Bruce, but also one of his most diverse albums that shows off more emotional aspects of his voice. Arc of Space is just beautiful.

Remember to download the bonus track Ghost of Cain, its as good as anything else on the album.

A definite hit, and his best solo CD, imo. :D

Album came in today, and me likey. It's like a darker, heavier Iron Maiden. With a bit less of a "classic metal" guitar sound. Freak, in particular, is one of the best songs Dickinson's ever written.

Hit for me too but my favourite solo Dickinson album remains Balls to Picasso! :dio:
