 Post subject: HAPPY METAL
PostPosted: Fri Apr 04, 2008 5:13 pm
I know it's not initially what metal music was made for but it sometimes works mysterious ways... So here I am, asking you about the most uplifting, happiest metal/hard rock songs you ever came across... Note that the lyrics doesn't necessarily need to be happy ones.

I've got a few myself :
    - Breaking the Law by Judas Priest
    - Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter by Iron Maiden
    - Return Of The Warlords by Manowar
etc.

Now, I'm curious to see what you'll come up with... ^^

Dream Theater - Solitary Shell came across my mind at an instant. I'll think of a few more.

The Manowar self titled! Then again, most Manowar songs are to some extent. The one that's always got me is Spiral Architect by Sabbath. I like this thread, I've always thought about that as well haha.

I have the ultimate one!

Meatloaf-I Would do Anything for Love, haha. Me and my mates put it on as a drinking game, you have to sing along in full style and drink when ever he says 'love'. It's hilarious, but you end up covered in drink and looking a fool. Good times.

How can there be a more "happier" metal band than Edguy ...

Down to the Devil, Jerusalem, Judas at the Opera, Vain Glory Opera ... so many examples of happy metal.

I wouldn't call your arrogant short sentences relevant.

I don't know that all of those Helloween songs can be classified as happy. Espcially the songs from Walls of Jericho.

Altaria - almost all their songs sound "happy", even if the lyrics aren't for every song. Try Divinity or The Fallen Empire
Axxis - all
Cruachan - The Middle Kingdom or Folklore
Evidence One -Tattooed Heart
Manigance - D'un Autre Sang
Mob Rules - Temple Of Two Suns or Hallowed Be Thy Name for best albums
Olympos Mons - Conquistador
Supreme Majesty - Elements Of Creation
Taraxacum - Rainmaker
Timeless Miracle - Into The Enchanted Chamber
Finntroll - Nattfodd
Korpiklaani - any
Twilightning - Delirium Veil
Virtuocity - Secret Visions
Zonata - Buried Alive

Sonata Arctica, Rhapsody and Stratovarius you probably know. Sorry for not giving specific songs, however all those albums carry that "happy" feel. Still, you have to overcome the "cheese" factor.

For Finntroll, I would have chose Trollhammeren. :dio:

All power metal, really. With maybe a scant few exceptions.

"Swim" by In Flames is pretty upbeat...also a killer song. I was just thinking the other day about a band that tends to make happy music but I can't remember what it was.

Freedom Call - Warriors
Edguy - Lavatory Love Machine
Edenbridge - On Top of The World
Helloween - Future World and Final Fortune
Nightscape - Home and Higher Than Life
Timeless Miracle - The Gates of Hell

I know I have way more since I enjoy 'happy metal' but I can't be arsed to think anymore.
