First of all, Seventh son, Iron Maiden and Somewhere in time. Then the rest.

My personal favorite is 7th son, but I'd get everything from Killers to 7th son. Then Brave New World. I have fallen in love with Brave New World.

I would say Powerslave is the best of their 80s stuff. Basically, you cannot go wrong with Maiden albums from 80-88. After that, it is a hit or miss for many, but to me, Maiden have never released a bad album. Their weakest is No Prayer For The Dying which is not all that bad, but is weak by Maiden standards. Many are going to disagree, but Fear Of The Dark is a good album. That's what got me into them and eventually, I became a Maiden fanboy. Among their 21st century albums, Brave New World is brilliant. Dance Of Death is good too.I wouldn't say A Matter Of Life And Death is a good place to start. That's a good album, make no mistake about it. But, it is one Maiden album that needs a few spins to get used to unlike their other stuffs . Also, you can pick up Live After Death. Definitely among the best live albums ever.

I'd say Number Of The Beast is probably the best album to start with, since it's their most popular. AND it's one of the key milestones in heavy metal.

After that, I'd go with:

Powerslave
Piece of Mind
Seventh Son...
Somewhere In Time
Dance Of Death
Brave New World
A Matter Of Life Or Death

If I'm excluding an album, it's only because I haven't heard it.

I think he may be saying that he has the albums from Killers to Powerslave, meaning he'd have Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind. If I'm wrong, still get those albums (though I think Number can wait until you've got the other classic Maiden albums). I'd start by getting Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Somewhere in Time. And for something newer, get Brave New World.

Ok, so you have NOTB, POM and PS.

Simple choice next: Seventh Son of a Seventh Son.

It's really a no-brainer.

AMOLAD might be a nice step forward for the band but it's mediocre. Fact. BNW is hailed as awesome by many but is mediocre. Fact. Dance of Death is an absolute fucking masterpiece of modern metal. Fact. Just my two pence on the newest albums.

Dance of Death sucks donkey balls. Only Virtual XI can beat it in crapiness.

I can't believe you're recomending FOTD before 7th Son.

What?! That's piss talk. It's all quality songs save for the opener and Paschendale and Dance of Death are epic in only the best way possible. Plus the fact that as opposed to most bland new Maiden it has fucking AWESOME riffs-Rainmaker is a masterclass in catchy riffing as well as the fact that Journeyman is Maiden experimenting and actually coming out Top Trumps instead of this boring Legacy bullshit.

I agree, mostly. Although I think BNW is awesome too.

I don't know for the rest of you but I think that A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH is also lame album.

Although I prefer BNW than DOD, I must say "Dance Of Death" is the best song Maiden put out in the 2000s. A masterpiece, agreed!

Your next album should be either 7th Son or Somewhere In Time. I presume that you said from Killers to Powerslave, that you have the albums in between (Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind).

Next should be Iron Maiden. After that, possibly the newer Maiden albums (Dance of Death, Brave New World, A Matter of Life and Death) or the remaining albums (X Factor, Virtual XI, Fear of the Dark & No Prayer for the Dying). Note: X Factor and Virtual XI are with Blaze Bayley on vocals...and does a great job too...

i bought 7th son and a matter of life and death. Both are great albums, but 7th son is definitely the best maiden album i have heard. I'm hoping to buy somewhere in time and iron maiden tomorow.
