My god! I missed this guy! :dio:

Quote:
Danish metallers PYRAMAZE — whose current recording lineup includes ICED EARTH singer Matt Barlow — have issued the following update:

"The work on our new album, 'Immortal', was completed today at 11 AM in Denmark. We are extremely happy with the outcome, and we are now ready to share a few clips with all of you loyal fans who have waited patiently for a little taste of the new stuff. We therefore give you two clips of the new album, with a length that is good enough to give you a fair feel for the songs."

"Immortal" track listing:

01. Arise
02. Year of the Phoenix (mp3 clip)
03. Ghost Light
04. Touched by the Mara
05. A Beautiful Death
06. Legacy in a Rhyme
07. Caramon's Poem (mp3 clip)
08. The Highland
09. Shadow of the Beast
10. March through an Endless Rain

"Immortal"'s vocal sessions were helmed by producer Jim Morris, who has worked with ICED EARTH on the group's last few releases. The CD was mixed by Jacob Hansen (RAUNCHY, INVOCATOR, MERCENARY).

Music sounds killer!!
:D

I know I'll probably be in the minority, but I think Lance King is a better fit with Pyramaze. I'm not sure I'm going to love Barlow's lower voice with the highly symphonic music.
We'll see... I'll place final judgement after I've heard the upcoming CD numerous times.

I don't have the adequate words to describe my feelings about these samples.

Suggest you start with something like "Good" or "bad" :)

Sounds killer....this mid-paced song really fit Barlow here...and the "growls" from Burnt Offerings are back...Man I missed this man's voice, hope the album will be awesome. About IE, I hope shaffer finds new inspiration, for even Barlow can't save bland songwriting (look at Horror Show)

YES. This guy raises the quality of anything he's a part of. Although I'm sure this album is going to be amazing I'm still glad he's back with Iced Earth.

I think Horror Show is one of their best albums. A bit more subtle, but I think it's got more depth overall.

And some cheesy lyrics.

This is going to slay everything else, even though I do prefer Lance's vocals just a tad more. Not to say Barlow is any worse, he does a brilliant job showing different sides of Pyramaze. It's like comparing chocolate and ice cream, awesome but different. I can't wait!

"Damien" is a great song :D

Of course Ken, you just HAD to like the album most people think it's the weakest from the Barlow-era. Big L for the underdog :):):) I'm not saying it's BAD (with a capital B),it has some awesome songs on it, but overall I feel Jon's songwriting started to go downhill from here. And it starts on HS. But anyways, Pyramaze is an extremely talented band, I love The Legend... and I KNOW that Barlow won't disappoint here.

Most of the songs are great. The last three songs, Frankenstien, Dracula, and The Phantom Opera Ghost are some of the best Power Metal songs I've heard.

Samples sounded absolutely amazing -- thanks to Barlow's godly voice, of course. If Ripper had sung those songs, I doubt they would have the same 'power.'

I'm one of those few people who don't like Barlow's voice or way of singing. I don't deny that Barlow is an amazing singer with a great and powerful voice and excellent singing ability. It's just personal taste and his voice and style is not my cup of tea. Ripper's Iced Earth album has quickly become my favourite simply because I liked the vocals so much more than any other before that. Needless to say I was disappointed to hear Ripper's departure and Barlow's return to IE. It's similar with Pyramaze. I liked the first 2 Pyramaze albums a lot. But those samples with Barlow's voice just don't click with me. The music is nice but Barlow is unfortunately so dominant that for a moment I forgot that this was Pyramaze songs and not some older Iced Earth ones. Luckily, the pronounced presence of keyboard and slower guitar riffing separate that from IE.
Ofcourse, I will give the new Pyramaze a listen (or several) with an open mind when it comes out but I'm afraid the Barlow-factor won't let me enjoy this as much as I would otherwise.

I actually think that musically "Year of the Phoenix" has a serious Iced Earth sound to it. The keyboards don't fool me here.

I agree, I think Horror Show is amazing. I had no idea some IE fans didn't like it.

I agree totally well said.
