This song is utterly amazing. 1976 and the power metal emotional ballad type song had already been perfected. This song puts all modern heavy metal bands to shame. This is quite possibly one of the most glorious songs ever written. I wish I had a link to the song because I know some power metal fanboy is going to disagree with me. Listen to the song first, somehow, please, before you decide to disagree with me. If you've heard the song already (The Voice, Radagast, etc) then I welcome you're opinion. |

Are you only here to enforce outdated music? |

Have you even heard the song?? It is in no way outdated. All the elements of the song are highly abused by modern bands, unfortunately they don't have the same song writing abilities or passion as the Scorpions did on this song. If you listened to the song, then fine, you are entitled to your opinion. If not, then get the hell off of this thread because you are obviously not prepared for an intellegent discussion. |

Well! It looks like even if I did listen to the song, you'd still want me out of the thread, as my opinion is not the same as yours. |

I am one of the biggest power metal fanboy. Yes, even the cheesy king with kindergarted rhymes, and I agree that song is outstanding. I am also a huge scorpions fan. Especially the older songs and old ballads. The hot & Slow Scorpions disk is incredible from beggining to end. So you are incorrect I dont disagree with you at all. However, I am going to be 34 this year and that might have something to do with it. Younger fans may have not interest in 70s scorps, but what they were doing was wayyyyyyyyyy ahead of its time no doubt. Great to see this link in the forum btw. |

What I'm saying is, that if you search, you are probably the 1,000,000th person to make a comment just like that, and they're all equally worthless and unnecessary. So H_T likes classic heavy metal, thrash, etc...so what? It's not like he's plugging boy bands or some shit. If you pay attention to him, you may just discover some bands that kick ass that you never knew existed. I know I have. |

I don't have a problem with his tastes. But it's the way he parades his tastes that sort of irk me. It strikes me as... pompous. |

"Nu-metal" isn't an insult to me, so try another, more interesting insult. Quote: Quote: So H_T likes classic heavy metal, thrash, etc...so what? I don't have a problem with his tastes. That's your problem. You should really be banned from this forum. Even when I was in my biggest asshole mode here, I still discussed music. You do none of that. You're 99% worthless here. If you don't like how someone posts, or what they post about, fucking ignore it. Pretty simple, really. And that song is a great song, for the record. |

Kick ass song with an excellent solo work by Uli Jon Roth, a great remminder of how great Heavy/Power ballads used to be, of course there are some bands that still write excellent power ballads (ie: Virgin Steele) but i do agree that a lot of newer Power Metal bands suck at writting those kind of songs nowdays. |

Cut it the fuck out already!!! No more bullshit posts in this thread or its getting locked. Octavarius, how many fucking times do I have to say it, if you have an opinion that would accomplish nothing more than starting shit, KEEP IT TO YOURSELF!! Your original post did nothing to further conversation in this thread, if anything it made you look far more pompous than the person you were accusing of the same thing. And Ken, obviously you can't get along with Octavarius, so take your own advice and ignore him! There, problem solved. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO3FkwbD ... re=related Quality of the video isn't fantastic, but hey, whatever. Listening to it currently, and yes, there does appear to be a lot of good guitar work. I don't know how much I enjoy it, but it does seem to be mood music, and I don't know if I'm in that mood, so I'm not going to write it off. I was never much of a "ballad" guy, but it seems decent. May not be totally related, but for mid-70s ballad-ish songs, how about The Prophet's Song? |

Wintermute, that is an excellent observation. The Prophet Song is my favorite Queen song, and consequently the most epic in my opinion. Achilles Last Stand by Led Zeppelin has the same qualities. In fact, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and the early Scorpions all had this inate ability to write long epic songs that have a very serious and haunting quality to them. Indeed, those songs to me, along with Rainbow's Stargazer, are the template for the epic heavy metal bands that came later. Sabbath too had something to do with it, but Sabbath was much less mystical than these bands were. |

Haven't heard this in many many an age; will have to revisit it. Holy Terror "being stuck in the '80's" as is it has been said... that's a bad thing how? The 80's were a very awesome time for metal, and has yet to be surpassed (IMHO, naturally) in attitude and quality. Sure, theres plenty of worthy metal out there these days, but it isn't quite the same, somehow. I trust a rec from HT more than anyone else here, outside the realm of BM. |

Prophet's Song is indeed fucking awesome- one of the, if not the best, Queen song, even with that vocal solo in the middle which took some time to learn to enjoy. But I would say that Life's Like a River beats it out. I'm not sure if its the best Scorpions song, but it definitely is up there and is one of the best songs of all time. Just fucking phenomenal harmony work. |
