After LOTF2 I am definately the opinion that Gamma Ray should hire a new vocalist since Kai has lost his voice, which is no wonder since nowadays smokes as a chimney. The songwriting was rather uninspired (which could also be seen as tons of Maiden riff rippofs:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnvmGvY-Qsw), but Insurrection could have been a great song, but Kai's voice was not enough to make the chorus as bombastic as it was meant to be.

I disagree. Since Kai took over the vocals, Gamma Ray has gone only upwards. Ok, No World Order was pretty boring, and LOTFII did not quite live up to my expectations, but it was not because of Kai's voice.

Kai Hansen is the voice of Gamma Ray, for better or for worse. I think Scheepers and Kiske are both superior vocalists, but it just would not be the same without Kai.

But I'll admit the thought of Kiske singing for Gamma Ray gives me a bit of a stiffy. It just seems too unlikely though.

Kai has never had a good voice.

He did with Helloween's Walls Of Jericho.

From that list Kiske not that I mind Kai. But as Kiske probably wouldn't do it I'd be more than happy with Daniel Heiman.

No way. He has this weird noise his voice makes. It's almost like a Gremlin is harmonizing with him. But hey, he fits. Brian Johnson, Bon Scott, Lemmy, and plenty of others have less than spectacular voices, but they fit.

Kai is perfect, I love his voice. I haven't given much of a listen to the new one yet though. Majestic however has been slowly becoming one of my favorite Gamma albums. Its definately up there with Powerplant, Somewhere Out In Space and Land of The Free.

I disagree he had a pretty sharp voice back then.

Don't you hear the gremlin, though? I can't even describe it. It's just a...sound. Haha.

Not really.

I still thought Majestic was a good album even though it was not at the same level as the previous Gamma Ray albums with Kai on the vocals. I never seen Kai as any spectacular singer, but the music has not really suffered from that before LOTF2. The music on LOTF2 is unispired and the singing is terrible... there are hundreds of better powermetal albums released this year...

I think the album is pretty good. It'd be in my top ten of 2007 for sure. It aint LOTF1, but anyone who expected it to be were kidding themselves.

I kind of get what you're saying. There's someone else with that sound as well, but I can't think who.

Mine too. It has Gamma Ray written all over it and Kai still fits perfectly.
