I listened to this album in the car this morning, and quite frankly, I think it ranks up there with No Rest For The Wicked as one of the madman's most underrated releases. Yes, it has an obvious glam influence (just look at the photos in the CD booklet for the remastered version). But metal genre shouldn't be the only criteria used when judging metal music. And, judged by their own merits, there are some very good songs on here. Secret Loser, Never, Lightning Strikes, Killer Of Giants, Shot In The Dark. All are great songs. And Jake E. Lee is actually a pretty solid guitarist (although I do wish the album had a heavier guitar sound - but we can't have everything). |

I personally like it. Not as much as some of his previous works but it's still good. |

Honestly, I think it was mostly the production that gave the album that "glammy" sound. Listen to the guitars in the beginning of Secret Loser, for example. Reminds you of the Top Gun theme doesn't it? Even though Top Gun wouldn't be out until about three months after the album's release. |

Hit. One of his best albums, IMHO. Every song is great, and Jake E Lee is extremely underrated. Jake is a guy who prides himself on how "clean" his guitar playing is, like you'll never hear his Fret breaks as if he was floating on the neck, so the guitar tone isn't going to be rough and dirty. He used the same guitar tone on Badlands, so I guess that's just how he likes it. I love the lyrics on this album, and it's one of Ozzy's strongest vocal performances. He goes up and down with his register, which is something you don't hear too much from the Ozz man. A true gem in Ozzy's catalogue, and is criminally overlooked. This album is way better than the Blizzard of Ozz, and blows away anything he did post No More Tears. |

Hit. Not the best Ozzy but better than his latest and the oh so awful No Rest For The Wicked. I'll give it a 70/100 |

Like most Ozzy, an incredibly inconsistent album- though it does have his best song, Shot in the Dark, and Lee is completely underrated on this album- some great lead work. Is there an average option? |

I am very pissed off that Sharon Osbourne does not want to pay the guy who wrote "A Shot In The Dark" royalties, so they put the album out of print. So what we have now is only one Jake E Lee album in print any more and the rest are Zakk Wylde. None of Randy's stuff is authetic anymore, to fuck Bob Daisely. Thanks to the internet, these albums will always be kept around by someone. |
