This is fucking GREAT!! It puts you in another state of mind, like almost everything he does. I am four songs away from the end, and based on what I have heard so far, this sits up there with some of his best work.

Devin Townsend should be a gazillionaire by now! It's so sad to know he struggles when Simple Plan live in mansions!! The man is probably the most brilliant musician I have ever heard. This album is unreal!!

You said it dude.

I started the album over, and I'm now listening to "Hypergeek." This is like a second intro, and holy crap it is fucking awesome. Next up "Triumph." That song is Devy at his best, that and I have to hear Vai's solo again.

"Hypergeek" is like Infinity meets Physicist! =) Vai's solo is so weird, hehe, but undeniably Vai all the way. I like Dev's quote about this song:

"Vai plays on this song for a reason, peace is made with the past. Brave enough to make a step."

They've had problems in the past. It's awesome to know they've patched things up. That thing Dev posted (that I posted on page 3) is a good read while listening to the album.

IT does. I haven't stopped playing it. With each listen you hear an entirely different song (although I don't want to get sick of it so I'm going to put it away for a while).

Yeah, I never over-listen to an album. As much as I may like it, my taste for music changes one an hourly basis sometimes! Haha. I have probably listened to this album, though, about 75 times in the past few days! Hahaha.

"Sunshine And Happiness" is so awesome! What I find so awesome about it is that it is exactly the type of song The Darkness has tried to pull off. They have failed, Devin Townsend probably wrote this song in an hour and it shits on the entire The Darkness discography!

Shit, Devin wrote and recorded the entire Punky Bruster album from beginning to end in 5 days for $1500 and that album is better than most punk albums I've heard in my life! The man is just that, THE MAN!

Have you ever been to any of his shows?

I saw him a couple years ago when TDTB was touring with Symphony X. I shook his hand, and after the show, I left, but my brother went bowling with him (the venue was the Ranch Bowl). My brother said he is damn funny, and he seemed very interested to hear from a fan.

My brother and I have been Devy fans for many years. I think I was a freshman in high school. So like eight years ago, I believe.

WHAT? Is your brother's name Travis by chance?

No. To his family and friends he is Andy (his middle name), to his co-workers and others he is Warren (his first name). I have no idea why the hell he does this.

I know a dude from another board who lives in Omaha (or close by) and he once told me a story of seeing Devin play there and they went out after to a bowling alley and got drunk with the band. Very strange.

He has been here a few times. I've seen him once with The Devin Townsend Band and once with Strapping Young Lad. Both of those shows were at The Ranch Bowl, (which doesn't exist now b/c of Fucking Wal Mart!!!) so it could've been another time.

Weird, or the guy I know knows your brother. It may be a favorite past time of Devin's, hahaha. Bowling in Omaha.

I've seen Devin numerous times. I've seen SYL and DTB both a few times, the best show was in Norwich, UK and it was a Devin Townsend show on the Terria tour where he played songs from all his solo albums and SYL! It was AWESOME!! I've yet to sing "Far Beyond Metal" with them yet, that is a goal of mine.

I'm thinking about heading up to Vancouver for the first two DTB shows of 2006, Feb 10th and 11th I think they are, a Friday and Saturday. Anyone wanna go? :D

what is so great about Devin Townsend? I have Terria album, I played it once and haven't touched it in over 2 years. Or is it one of those bands that you need to be high or drunk to fully appreciate?

Not at all. With Terria, you definitely need to listen to it more than once. That's the first album he did that has a lot of depth to it, something like Physicist, Ocean Machine and Infinity are much more immediate.

You need to listen to Terria really loud on headphones to appreciate it IMO
