Masterplan - Aeronautics
Gamma Ray - Majestic

I know I'm late with both of these, but I just never got around to Masterplan before - my loss apparently :P

And Gamma Ray has always been tough for me to risk because while I like Kai as a guitarist, I'm not a fan of his vocals. Still, he's better than the band's first vocalist, and I figured they are a major force in power metal, so I had to give one of their albums a shot eventually.

Majestic is a solid album. I'm not a huge fan of Kai's vocals either; he hits some weird tones when he sings, it's like an underlying sound that his throat makes; it's weird. Good album, though.

I've listened to some of the album, and so far it's obvious his vocals have improved alot over the last decade, and that is improvement enough for me to give the album a good listen. His voice is still weird, but it's definitely not the "dying cat" it used to be

Jorn rules though :D

For Christmas:

Sonata Arctica--Ecliptica
Edguy--Vain Glory Opera
Megadeth--Peace Sells, But Who's Buying?
Children of Bodom--Hatebreeder
Dream Theater--Score (DVD)
Judas Priest--Painkiller

I actually Holy Diver Live, but I returned it and got Painkiller today. I'm giving Painkiller my first listen, and already Painkiller (the song) has got to be one of my favorite tracks ever.

It's been proven that anyone who doesn't have this exact reaction is a cumsnorting fag.

I just got back from my local metal store's boxing week sale, and I came back with 6 CDs. They are:

1. Quo Vadis - Day Into Night (I wanted the new cd but they didn't have it)
2. Tyr - Ragnarok (Ironically I wanted the OLD cd but they didn't have it)
3. Turisas - Battle Metal
4. Amon Amarth - With Oden on our side
5. Gamma Ray - Majestic

and then I grabbed a random 5 dollar CD out of the bargain bin. It's From Within by some band named Solitude and so far it sucks. Ah well.

It is. I just finished listening to it and was very pleased. It's a weird style of music though... The whole vocal approach you won't hear anywhere else.

Nope. And it's quite an accomplishment for them to create such catchy music and often not even be singing in English! I think Eric The Red is catchier, so make sure you find that one, too.

I've decided to start collecting all the Priest albums.

starting with the second, since Rocka Rolla wasn't in ;)
But that's okay, Sad wings of destiny has always been my favourite, along with British Steel.

So yes, Sad Wings of Destiny was my last purchase.

Labyrinth - Sons Of Thunder
Sanctuary - Into The Mirror Black

I had forgotten how awesome that Sanctuary album is! I have it on tape, but probably haven't listened to it in 10 years because I haven't owned a tape deck in that long. Anyway, this album is brilliant. I would love for Dane to re-record this shit as a Nevermore album! Wouldn't that kick ass?

That's one of my favorite CD's of all time...excellent. I think every Dream Theater member gives his best performance on Scenes From A Memory.
